I really dont know much about the bible, but my best friend is trying to get me more active in her church, we've been writing scripts for her youth group and we've been asked to write a script about "why did jesus rise from the dead?". I was wondering if anyone could help me out. If you could that would be great.
Sorry, I dont like posting stuff about religion because I know it brings up controversy, but this isnt to get people to believe in god or diss other religions, i'm just trying to write a script.
Thanks so much.
simply,
amelia

Jesus rose from the dead so that he can go to his father in heaven to be our mediator and send the holy spirit to guide us.

The question you should ask is why he died?
He died so that we can have life, peace and hope. Also so that we can live a guiltless life and be free.
I hope I helped.

Most of what he did on his last days on earth was to fulfill the prophesies in the old testament about what the Messiah would do. It's been pointed out that his resurrection is very similar to tales of vampirism. It's possible he suffered from Porphyria, Catatonia or epilepsy. Modern Medicine has found cases of certain kinds of epilepsy inducing a God complex. I would suggest writing a script that brought up these possibilities rather than yet another retelling of the bible version. You could start with Jesus coming out of a catatonic state in the garden of Gethsemane and saying he spoke with his heavenly father and now knows what he must do. While among the money changers he could have an epileptic fit.... He would need to be shown drinking animal blood to maintain his appearance and health and when he's imprisoned and denied it and exposed to sunlight he will look abject and scourged. On the cross he would sink into catatonia and appear dead. His uncle Joseph of Arimathea would know about his condition and how to treat him so after three days of his wife/girlfriend Mary Magdalene nursing him he'd come back to something like good health. After reassuring his posse that he'd come back after a safe interval Jesus, Mary and their daughter Sarah flee to Egypt.
That's a play I'd love to see.

Jesus came to the earth to buy back for us what Adam lost.
A perfect human life. But he wasn't a human when he was in heaven he was a very powerful spirit person.
The first thing God ever created.
(Colossians 1:15-17) . . .5 He is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of all creation; 16 because by means of him all [other] things were created in the heavens and upon the earth, the things visible and the things invisible, no matter whether they are thrones or lordships or governments or authorities. All [other] things have been created through him and for him. 17 Also, he is before all [other] things and by means of him all [other] things were made to exist,
so after he laid down that perfect life as a ransom for mankind then he took up his spirit body and went back to be at the right side of God in heaven where he had been for trillions and trillions of years before coming to this earth.
So he had to be resurrected to do that. And he will come back and kill all the wicked people and set up his kingdom all over the earth and people will live in peace on this earth forever. the good people. The bad people are just gone.

To overcome Death, Hell, and the grave. If Jesus wouldn't have risen from the dead we would not have atonement for our sin and he would not have been the Savior of all men, he would have just been another man who died for what he believed. When he rose from the dead he proved he was the one and only Son of the Living God and that he had all power over the Devil and death.

The Book of Mormon contains the account of Christ's visit to the Americas after his resurrection. There were credible witnesses that saw the Book of Mormon and heard the voice of God proclaim the translation to be correct. Scientific investigation has corroborated nearly all of the factual statements of the Book of Mormon, despite the skepticism of scientists. The translation of the Book of Mormon was a well attested supernatural event, and the Book of Mormon itself testifies of Christ, and of his resurrection. There is no other credible theory of the source of the Book of Mormon than the one provided by Joseph Smith and the various witnesses who saw the angel Moroni and handled the gold plates.

Well, death is the penalty for sin. God made death because we are sinful. Jesus came back from the dead to show us that sin is forgiven.

And Jesus came back from the dead to show us that we can live forever too, if we just follow Jesus.

That's a good question, because supposedly Jesus died for humanity's sins.

But then if he rose from the dead, he didn't actually die, so what was the big sacrifice?

Weird, huh?

Think most people just would want to answer your question - don't worry about controversy! I think it was prophesied that Jesus would rise again on the third day.

This is a good source to go to: online

http://www.biblegateway.com/

It was his destiny

He came into this world to live and die and go back to the Father where he came from

He was sent to his own and his own receive him not

He ascended into hell and took the keys from Satan of death hell and the grave and gave gift's unto men and let the captives that where held in prision that were dead saints go free back to the father
I would say to overcome Satan strip him of his power

John 20:17
Jesus saith unto her, Touch me not; for I am not yet ascended to my Father: but go to my brethren, and say unto them, I ascend unto my Father, and your Father; and to my God, and your God.
