Hello there!
Its best to never clean your glasses dry. If there is particles on your lenses they need to be rinsed away before you wipe or you could scratch your lenses (even with a scratch resistant coating).
Usually when you buy your glasses they will throw in a cloth and that is the best one to use... or any cloth that is 100% cotton and that is clean.
DO NOT use paper towel or Kleenex because it will put fine scratches on your lenses.
You can just turn on the tap to luke warm water and rinse your lenses before you wipe them. You can also use a mild dish detergent and water, optical lens cleaner or even a little bit of rubbing alcohol if your lenses are very dirty!
Hope that helps :)

First, don't ever use your clothing because particles of dirt can get into the weave of some materials and cause scratching. I prefer either cloth diapers, which work great or Scotch Brite High Performance Cleaning Cloths by 3M (just make sure you get the ones that don't have any cleaner in them because the material alone is what works wonders.
Second, I don't trust most cleaners because I've had them mess up the tent on my glasses, but regular tap water works fine and it doesn't cause smudges.

Cleaning cloths or lint-free wipes work well. Also, there is a specific spray solution that many opticians have. I know that we give everyone a bottle of the solution with the purchase of glasses. Ask your dr about where to get it!

At home I rinse them under warm running water then use a drop of dish detergent on the lenses and gently rub them with my fingertips. Rinse them thoroughly under the warm water faucet. Dry with a fresh and clean dish towel. This eliminates any greasiness that they have acquired from touching.
Away from home I carry a cleaner.

Sometimes I wipe with a paper towel or my shirt (Cotton).
If, they oily and smudged I use a little warm water in the kitchen and Dawn Dish soap. Cleans them up real good and I dry with a paper towel.
