Wait 12 months after a tattoo if the tattoo was applied in a state that does not regulate tattoo facilities. This requirement is related to concerns about hepatitis. Learn more about hepatitis and blood donation.

Acceptable if the tattoo was applied by a state-regulated entity using sterile technique. Only a few states currently regulate tattoo facilities, so most donors with tattoos must wait 12 months after tattoo application before donating blood. You should discuss your particular situation with the health historian at the time of donation.

Depending on the amount of time you've had your tattoo is what depends on the ability to donate or not. If the tattoo is fresh you may have to wait at least 12 months to donate any plasma. Yet if you've had it for quite a while then you may be at liberty to donate. To be sure that any body art is aloud always check with the company of whom you are donating to/for. Many may not see it as an issue yet others may see precautions of health matters. Just always double check with the agency before hand to be certain for this or any sort of matter.Being a person of donation myself it feels great to help others. So good luck!

You will have to wait a period of time after the tattoo before you can donate. The worry is that you may have picked up hepatitis or other viral infections (including HIV) from the tattoo needles. It takes a certain length of time for you to sero convert (time between exposure and developing antibodies). The problem is many of these tattoo palours are not licensed so God only knows how clean any of them are, and the patient receiving blood from a donor has to be protected.

The first guy is right, you can you just have to wait at least a year. Check with the Red Cross or the agency that will be taking your donation and ask them if they have more specific requirements.
