When my son was kidnapped I went into the most desperate depression. The only escape was sleep, but when morning came there was no hope, only despair. I would go to work and try to be around people. I tried to clean house and keep the yard nice and do all those things that are normally done, but it didn't change what was inside me.
One day I simply made the decision to get past it. My state of mind was not benefiting anyone including myself. It wasn't helping the situation get better and it certainly didn't help others who I interacted with every day.
I refused to focus on any thoughts that would feed my depression. It actually worked! Within a few days I can honestly say the depression went away and has never dominated me again.
There are certain foods that make me depressed, but it's a chemical thing. So I avoid all artificial sweeteners, corn syrup and monosodium glutamate.
By the way, I got a call from my ex five years after that time. She called "out of the blue" and wanted our son to know his father and even live with us for a while. If I had remained in depression I may have ruined my own life and not been able to enjoy the years I had with my son later.

God answers prayers in many ways. For example, he gave some people the gift of being able to help those who suffer from depression, either through counseling alone, or with the aid of medications developed by science. So yes, I think God will answer you if you ask him, but you have to be open to the idea that you may not just suddenly be all better. He will show you the way to the help that will ease your sorrow. Don't be afraid to ask for that help - there is hope, and there are brighter days ahead of you. Good luck, and God bless you.

Sometimes God says yes to prayers like this, depending upon the motive of the request/ petition. Sometimes He says not now, or He says no... but whatever His answer, it is for our good and not our downfall. IF there isn't a yes to a prayer you want a yes to, it's not because God doesn't care... it's because He knows what is the very best for us as people. Sometimes we ask amiss; sometimes God wants us to learn something important that we otherwise wouldn't learn. Sometimes He is waiting until our heart is right and our faith is in Him alone and not on the prayer, on others, or on ourselves.
Just trust Him to do the best for you He can (which is anything and everything, since He knows and sees all and knows the future) according to your life and your relationship with Him, and in His mercy, the answer will come. It might not be the answer you want... but the answer will be what He knows is best in the moment and in the long run. He loves you and wants the very best for you, and will not fail you.

Paul prayed 3 times for "the thorn in his side" his unnamed affliction to be taken away. (Corinthians) I was very ill 2 years ago and it was a difficult time for my faith, why didn't God heal me. I am still not completely better, but God has given me peace about where I am physically. I also realized what things I had done, in my case much stress and worry, that was making my physical situation worse. I would encourage you to seek help from a Christian, professional counselor or not, who is familiar with your situation and see if they have any insight as to work you can do in addition to praying, they can also pray with and for you. May God bless you.

Well, I had something wrong with my brain that caused:
1) a feeling of a heavy weight in my head
2) difficulty distinguishing between total picture and details
3) difficulty thinking in metaphors
I was healed in Jesus name. It took 2 lots of healing. I suddenly got faith for it as the speaker, a chap called Duncan Smith, who I know is a decent and honest man, told of a totally autistic child who had been fully healed (that is like a seriously good miracle; healing of brain components and probably dna). I had heard of many kinds of healing before but no brain healings. When I was healed it was one of the best days in my life.
It can be easier in a church environment, in a church where they really believe the healing side of the gospel and try to put it into practice . When God is worshipped, that draws God's Spirit down (and also healing angels if we could see into the supernatural). Thats why its usually easier in a church than alone. But many christian denominations dont even believe in the miraculous side of our faith, so you have to be choosy.
Alone (I'm a christian): just implore Jesus to heal you, and keep asking. There have been cases of Jesus coming to muslims in open visions and healing them (usually they change faith as well; actually if anyone directly encountered Christ they would almost certainly become a christian). You could do simple fasting when you pray, e.g. a day fasting a week. Fasting makes it easier to believe as it disciplines the side of our nature that only believes in merely physical things.
----------added---------
I may have received an anointing to heal in this area, through God's grace as a gift from Christ; it might work if you speak this:
In the name of Jesus Christ, I command your brain to be healed of its depression and disorder. I command any demons afflicting it to leave and never come back again. Amen, by the love of the Lord Jesus Christ.

Pray and ask for guidance on how you should handle the situation. Examine your own life and ask God to show you if there is something causing your depression that you need to change. Research the medical aspects of this condition and pray for guidance in deciding whether or not to seek treatment. God helps those who help themselves.

We face trials in our lives ... all of us .. whether we admit it or not. This whole life is a trial ... those that Believe, do good, Say the truth and are patient will be the successful ones.
So in your case ... be patient and DO NOT Give up hope in God ... He will listen. Sometimes God wants to try you to determine whether you really believe or not ... this maybe the case in your situation. It certainly does not mean you cannot ask for help from those that you trust and consider able to help you with your illness through advice or some other method, but know that you are searching for help and KNOW that whatever help comes to you comes by Gods Will.
May He bless your soul and cleanse your strife.

Well -- God can heal diabetes too, but I'd still go to the doctor and follow his directions if it was me. I see mental illnesses as being physical. I suppose they may have a spiritual component, but normally praying for relief from severe depression only causes more depression as God doesn't always heal, and then the depressed person would blame herself as she'd feel she didn't have enough faith.
So pray for healing and pray for wisdom for your doctor as you (or whoever in your life faces mental illness) seek medical treatment.

God didn't create us from the sperm and egg. He created the first people who were biologically able to make the sperm and egg, and of course, every living thing produces after its own kind
yeah you can. but of course, God doesn't do for you what you can do for yourself. I suggest you go to an up-beat church or listen to Joel Osteen, or get a self-help book or two. God gave people intelligence for a reason: to use.
