Disease is not really gender specific. Diseases can be acquired or can be congenital or hereditary. With that said, disease is almost always associated with stress. Diseases like heart disease or coronary artery disease are a function of stress and lifestyle.
In the past, between the 1900's and the 1980's, men suffered most of the chronic degenerate, non hereditary type diseases. Why, because men were under more stress having to hold down full-time job providing for their family. Men also do not have the built in protection of the hormone estrogen that women have. This all began to change at the end of the last century as more women entered the full-time work force. As more women started working full-time, the disease rates for these women began to climb. Women still live longer than men, but the gap is closing as the life expectancy of women is declining because of the added stresses of having to work full-time.

It's about even. For a male to have gotten an STD he had to of gotten it from a male and vice versa. However if you're talking globally, it's women. Many women in african villages are wracked with STD's. I find here in American, I've had more men than women come in the ER with STD's.

Which disease?
Some diseases are gender-specific (e.g., testicular cancer) whereas other disease are more likely to appear in one gender than the other (e.g., breast cancer, bipolar disorder). Still others are equally prevelent in both genders.
In the USA, generally speaking, women live slightly longer than men.
