Insecurity? If we are secure in our own beliefs, we have no need for company. Converting is about - I am right, you are wrong.

I can only speak for myself. As a Christian I know that I cannot convert anyone. I don't have that power. I can be a witness to people and do my best to share the light of Jesus, but there is a misconception out there among some believers (especially within certain denominations) that it is our job to argue endlessly with people until we are blue in the face while we try to "make them understand." That's not our job. More often than not it will be our actions that have an impact on the world rather than our words. Of course, it is possible to bless people with our words as well, (otherwise I wouldn't bother ever posting something on the Internet), but our goal should be to make sure our own walk with God is strong and God will take care of the rest. God will place people in our path that we can minister to, but we should never take pride in our beliefs or think that we are better than anyone else. Christians aren't better than anyone else, Jesus is. So are focus should be on Him.
I do think it is interesting that so many people think the reason religious people feel the need to convert is because it affirms their belief or because "misery love company." I can't speak for other religions or other people, but that's not the case at all for me. I would assume that other true Christians feel similarly to me that we desire as many people come to know the truth as possible because the alternative is death and, like Jesus, we don't want anyone to perish. Sometimes my heart is so overwhelmed with grief for all the lost souls out there I can hardly stand it. But I can't save anyone. Only God can. And God gives us all free will to decide for ourselves. All I can do is be there for people when they have questions and try to live out what I believe.
There is nothing worse or more damaging than a hypocrite. But there is also nothing more cowardice or lazy than to use hypocrites as justification for continued selfish living. Just because hypocrites exist, that changes nothing about Jesus or the truth.
A missionary once wrote "we should witness to people constantly all day long, and when necessary, use words." Those are good words to live by.

I'm not sure why so many of my fellow Christians feel the need to convert. Because our scriptural instruction is to be disciples unto Christ. To share His message of Salvation. We are called upon to share the Word. It is God/Jesus who convert by belief on Their promises.
However, what is missed oftentimes is the subsequent instruction to "dust the dust of their town off our feet" -when we have shared the word and those who have heard it reject it.
I will usually share it once - maybe expound a second time and if the person chooses not to accept the Way then I'll leave it and be done with it. If someone comes back to me for information or questions, I will provide it. Otherwise, I consider my job done.

Good question ........... I think the believers should deliver the message ..... no one has any ability to convert anyone else. It is God that converts or not. I don't know why these idiots try to converts others .... they should first convert themselves and then deliver the true message WHEN they understand it.
Then let people decide whether they want to believe or not, no question will be asked of them whether someone believed in the message or not ... the question will be asked of those that did or did not believe, which includes the deliverers or the message :-))

I tell others approximately Christ as a results of fact it works for me. If i purchase a product that doesn't artwork, or see a infant working into site visitors, i attempt to warn others out of affection, no longer some ego holiday. I even have made a lot of blunders, why ought to others sense that avoidable discomfort?? church homes and faith are voluntary, so is taking part in in site visitors. wager that have geared up the church homes interior the U. S., and that have succumbed to Darwinian extinction. while human beings screw up, we call it sin. Sin kills. we predict of an prolonged fulfilled existence is an progression, a life-time of inner peace, excitement and love for others is what we are promoting,, self-progression with a God of affection and certainty as a handbook, no longer some imperfect human chief. No guy is an island, you have already been prompted by ability of hundreds of exceptionally defective human beings. The defective church individuals are a minimum of searching for a greater advantageous, greater suited self habit and society. sure there are imperfect Christians, in case you think of you're able to do greater advantageous bypass to a church and start up off redesigning minds. there's a lot of room for progression everywhere i seem, a minimum of at church there are human beings attempting. There are distinctive callings (good guy initiatives) for those with distinctive abilities, no longer all Christians are alike or have an identical calling. ignore aggravating approximately self progression, start up engaged on saving your buddies from self destruction. this is stated as love.

The basis of Christian conversion processes is found in the eternal perspective on life.
In other words, Christ taught that life goes beyond the grave and our reward in heaven is dependent upon our faithfulness here on earth. Since God desires that His children, all the people on earth, should come back to His presence; and since only those that have been cleansed from the sins of this earth can return to dwell with Him, then it behooves each and every one of us, if we truly love our neighbor as ourselves as we claim we do, to share the message of the Gospel with as many people as we can so that we can report that we did what we could for the salvation of mankind.
In other words, because I love you, it hurts me to see you floundering outside the gospel. Therefore, I will share with you the joy of the gospel that is mine so that you can return to God's presence with me. It is our mandate from God to help Him to bring His children home.
I hope that explains it a bit better.

Well, it is a command in Christianity to convert the world, but I think it goes beyond that. When someone converts to your belief it reaffirms that you are right.
