Why not? Nobody seems to have much to say against forced abortion in China.

Well,I'm been in Amnesty International for years and I can assure you we damn well do consider such a practice our business; it's a gross violation of international law, specifically the Universal Declaration of Human Rights of 1949 (UN). I'm not shocked that atheists would yawn and consider it a matter of internal autonomy. They've got the values of reptiles. By the way,AI is an NGO. What's this "when will we stop interfering" blah blah blah? AI is based in the UK,no national affiliation, nothing to do with the US government. Why are atheists so ignorant you have to explain every little thing to them?

When they start to force gay marriage do I get to pick which partner I get to be the more masculine or the more feminine? :) Jim

I'm opposed just about anything being forced upon a free individual (I don't know that I'd consider the people of China free, though). Forced marriage, gay or straight is certainly wrong. I wasn't aware of the Chinese issue you mentioned but when I consider their population density, I guess that's where that comes from. At first glance, it doesn't seem right at all but I'll concede it's not as cut-and-dry as your 'marriage' example (although I don't know why you singled out gay marriage). China has a real problem on their hands. I know that I do see a large percentage of adopted Chinese children in my community which seems good to me for those kids and the people looking to adopt.

Here's a good follow-up question.
If they implement forced gay marriage in China, won't that eradicate the need for forced abortions?
But seriously, what's your agenda? Gay marriage is not, as I understand it, killing anyone. How that is comparable to abortion is beyond me, except that you see both as wrong in some way. So in your strange Orwellian thinking, if we think it's ok to force abortions in a country where the number one problem is overcrowding, then next it'll be ok for the rest of the world to force straight people to enter into same-sex marriages. What's next? We'll start teaching farm animals how to use condoms so there will never again be stories in the Weekly World News about half-man, half-donkeys?

I actually just read about the forced abortions in China a few weeks ago, and I'm looking for a group who is trying to help the women there. Pro-choice means pro-CHOICE, period. I haven't found a good organization to participate in yet, but I'm looking!
Pretty sure nobody's in favor of forcing marriage, either. At least, not in the West.

Dumbest question I've heard all day.
Let me break it down for everybody how this type of question comes to be asked.
1) He hears about forced abortions in China.
2) His religious brainwashing causes him to automatically associate the topic of "abortion" with that of "gay marriage" as the two great social evils of our day, etc.
3) He asks this imbecile question either in an attempt to be "cute," or because he really can't comprehend that they have nothing to do with each other outside of his own diseased mind.
How bout this one: If they DID force gay marriages on people, we wouldn't have to worry about abortion anymore!

This really makes no sense.... how can you consider one even remotely close to the other? They aren't anywhere close tot he same subject matter...
I suppose you are all for the practice of forced marriage between man and woman?

People look the other way about what is happening in China.
That is until they find out Chinese gluten products being imported into our country are tainted and made their way into dog and cat food that killed a lot of people's pets.
What diminishes one country diminishes the world. "Ask not for whom the bell tolls....."
But forced abortion? Nah...that's their business. Are we our brother's keeper? I remember someone else asking that question.....

Because that is China's business. When are we going to learn we can not control other societies and tell them how and when to live this usually leds to trouble for all that do. If the Chinesse people ain't worried about it why should I be?
Details added: Whatever!

what the hell? those have nothing to with each other. that's like me saying that if god was a monkey, then why are the oceans blue? it makes no sense. also forced abortion is necessary, because they would start to die due to lack of resources.
