This idea is an abhorrent breach of the first amendment of the constitution, and has been repeatedly and decisively struck down in courts all across the country, including the Supreme Court. Would this prayer be christian prayer, and thus exclude members of other prominent faiths in our natioon from participation, and therefore be discriominatory? Your idea is a bad one. You, the self proclaimed 'christian majority' should keep prayer in your churches where it belongs.

WHAT A GREAT IDEA!!

I think the Christian's should have 1 day every year in which they have their daily prayer in 1 location (like say.... New York City).

Then, call the Muslims and tell them what's going on, and see if the 2 of you can wipe each other out!!

~There's just enough religion in the world to make man hate one another, but not enough to make them love!!

Statements like that are the reason I, as a Christian, oppose prayer in school. Maybe I misunderstood you, If I did, then I appologize in advance. However, my impression from your statement if you are more concerned with forcing everyone else to conform to your ideas of faith than you are in actually entering into a respectful dialogue about the nature and meaning of faith.

My prayers are personal and none of the government's business. Nor are they the concern of my neighbors, let alone total strangers.

America is not a christian nation. Just because the founding fathers of the nation were christian does not mean America is christian. America was founded on the principle that no man has the right to force another into their faith. We have the right to believe in whatever we want, including the absence of a G-d. Forcing your belief on others not only turns them away from your religion, but it goes against what America was founded for.

Every day can be a day of prayer, but why should it be a "national" thing? I consider prayer to be very personal, and I don't think I should force my beliefs on anyone else.

Should we, the rational minority, declare today "stick your head int the oven day"? At the very least, our brains would be oxygen-deprived enough that we could blissfully wander about this great Christian Nation.

Wait a minute. If it becomes a year round national holiday, do we get the day(s) off from work?? Cuz then maybe I'd be in...

That is a very good idea, but it should be a national day of prayer to all christians anyways. Praying is how you keep in touch with God.

No, the Christian majority population of the U.S. should not be allowed to violate the Constitution at will.

A Christian majority does not make this a "Christian Nation" any more than a white ethnic majority would make it a "White Nation."

You really want the government involved in church?

That's almost as bad of an idea as church in the government.

I don't think that would be a good idea. Christians should be encouraged to pray by their priests and ministers. It should not be associated with a national observance.
