find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

At any age you always need exercise and good eating habits. Just waking up and eating a fruit, a cup of orange juice/milk, and a bowl of hot/cold cereal is healthy. When you wake you you can even stretch to get the day started and that can help loosen the muscles for great physical ability. Having healthy habits start in the morning. Yet having the habits are important they aren't as important as keeping them. Try eating things like granola bars instead of candy or chips. You can even try yogurt, string cheese, snacks the have low fat or zero calories, trust me it works. Now in days they have different foods and snacks that carry you in the healthy compartment. they have chips that are baked with flavor, candy with low calories and no fat, plus you always have fruit and vegetables to go along side with everyday meals. You should try this! Oh yeah last but not least for excercise try walking to the park or even just around the neighborhood. Do maybe 5 to 10 jumping jacks 2x a week but make it fun. Add music when you do it. Hey even dancing is an exercise. I should know I'm a dancer. Anyhow good luck and remember you can be healthy and still have a few extra pounds on your body. Like the other lady said check your weight for your height first to be sure of any signs of unhealthyness. (If thats a word) But you get the point right! lol!

For your age, you seem like a normal weight, but it really depends on how tall you are.

Because you are 10, DON'T diet. Diets make you lose sources of iron, vitamins, etc that you, especially as a child, need.

Make sure you really are overweight before you lose weight, because I think you may just have a body image problem (you think you are overweight when you aren't).

If you are, however, then excersize and eat healthy. That is the only thing that works. Talk to your parents so that they can help and encourage you.

Good luck!

Do Not go on a big diet! You are only 10 you don't need to do that. If you like to eat a lot of junk and fast food cut it out. Eat a lot of fruits, vegetables, and protein. Do some exercise. Summer is coming up and you will have a lot of time to exercise join a sports team like swimming. Try grabbing your friends going outside and getting a game of tag or a relay race started. Just be healthy.

At 10 years old your body can feel very akward, and you will feel over weight. I know this may not be what you want to hear, but just give it some time. Once you hit your teens you will begin to develop and you will automaticly begin to shape and thin out! I know this is not helping with an instant answer, but you will get there before you know it. But until then just stay active. Go on bike rides, roller skater with friends and go swimming during the summer, you'll be fine!!

hi im in uk so have no idea what you mean by that as we work in stones and ounces.
why not watch what you eat, cut down on pasta, white bread, increase the intake of veg and fruit, and make sure you drink plenty of water. about 8 glasses a day. does wonderful things for skin too that does.
exercise regularly too. it can be swimming in morning, then walking to school, and then when you get home have a dance for half an hour in your room, making sure that when you have finished, you feel out of breath. this means its working.
sweating helps you to lose weight too.
before bed, so some sit ups, and star jumps making sure you stretch each limb and muscle.
dont go starving yourself, you will end up ill. good luck.
why dont you see the doctor~? they can help you.

I don't think you're overweight. Anyway, DO NOT follow the sort of diets that appear in magazines or on TV. It is not healthy to follow such diets at your age. Besides, remember that girls tend to gain some weight between 10 and 13 years old because of all the hormonal process.

My suggestion is, do exercise and try not to eat so much "junk-food" (that is, Mc Donald's food and that kind of thing). Try to eat healthier food but do not eat less.

a) How tall are you?
b) There is no way you should be dieting at your age. If you eat a healthy diet you have nothing to worry about. Don't let the media brainwash you. Speak to your parents about this.

Okay, this is a bit overweight, ask your parents to take you to your doctor to talk about making healthy improvements. At your age, your parents are still making your choices for you and they need to be educated too. I lived in the UK too and unfortunately the diet there is very unhealthy and a lot of people aren't given education about food and exercise. Your doctor will help.
