Weight training will not stunt your growth at all, whether it's squats, bench pressing or whatever. When I was your age I used to lift weights with a friend who was about my height. We both grew taller but he grew much taller and bigger than me despite the weight training. Today he's about 7 inches taller than me.

Who in the world told you that squats can stunt your growth? That would be the wives' tale of all time. The only things that can stunt growth are malnutrition or disease/disorders. There isn't an exercise known to man that can stunt your growth! Get that out of your head and get lifting. Make sure you let your muscles get used to it - most teenagers I know start trying to lift heavy from day one. Start slow and build up, but just start!

Benching should not stunt your growth, neither should squats, depending on how much weight you have on top of you. Unless you seriously have a grip of weight on top of you, it's not really going to restrict your spine from growing. You'll grow however much your suppose to. They say coffee stunts your growth, they say a lot of things... You can't trust everything you hear, nor should you trust my advice. Just take it into consideration, but don't let fear take over how you live your life. Do what you want, when you want.

Who told you squats stunt growth.Squats are to work quads(upper legs).Bench presses are o.k.,try decline and incline presses. Are you wanting strength or size?go for strength, size will come(you won't look like a bodybuilder) while training. These guys that are bodybuilders can't reach very far to scratch their backs, they need an outside corner of a wall of a building or a tree.

If you do it for a bit of toning that's okay. If you really want to bulk up your muscles you should wait until you stop growing or you could damage your metabolism.
