You are not being prescribed the street drug methamphetamine, you are being prescribed DESOXYN, which is methamphetamine hydrocloride and quite different than methamphetamine. Check it out at the link below.

Regarding whether you have ADHD, check the second link for the CDC's list of symptoms. If you do not believe you have the symptoms listed, print off the list and sit down with your parents and ask them to explain, given the list, why they think you have ADHD

Good luck.

I take Ritalin. When I purchase it, they give me a generic drug called Methylyn. It does not mean that I am on Meth. There is also a drug called Methodone, which helps with pain and can help you if you are a drug addict coming off of drugs.
I will tell you one thing you must listen to me about. Please. Do not let ADHD set limits on you. I don't have ADD or ADHD, I take Ritalin because I am fat and tired all the time. It helps me focus at work and gives me energy. I am 34 years old.
I have been diagnosed for three years now, with general anxiety, severe depression and OCD. For two of those years, I let these diagnoses define who I was as a person. Not anymore. I am still a competent person. I can still manage a 40 hour plus job. Which means for you, even if you have been diagnosed with ADHD, you can still get straight A's and you can still become successful when you graduate high school.
Why did you parents bring you to the doctor in the first place? Maybe there was a reason for their concern.

The parents are doing what the schools want the to so defacs doesn't get called on them. I've gone through it too. Tell them you don't want to take it, you don't want to be a druggie. Or be a wiseash about it and tell them you'd be much more calm if you could just smoke a joint, and the side effects aren't near as bad. Do a little digging on line, you can acutually alter your diet to get the same effects as the pills. Look into it, there are certian foods to eat and others to stay away from that will change the chemicals in your brain-ask them to try that route first.

The medication you are taking is not the kind of 'meth' you are thinking of. This prescribed medication is a certain dose, and is not the homemade version in which you cannot control how much you are getting and is very addictive. The medicine you are on probably won't kill you with one dose, and may even calm your hyper butt down a bit. Why would you get kicked off the honor roll? This shouldn't stop you from getting A's, and it is not a 'DRUG', it is a medication.

Your doctor should know what's best for you, yes, methamphetamine is prescribed for ADD and it actually helps. What you are getting is not the street drug, it is made legally and without all the chemicals used to make street methamphetamine. You should relax, the prescription will probably help. If you are not sure, ask for something else.

Your parents are your legal guardians, but I don't believe you can legally be asked to take anything you don't want to. I do know that you can have psychological issues such as AHDH and still get A grades.

Have you told your parents you don't want to take this drug? Make it clear to them that you're willing to take another drug to help you, but are uncomfortable with taking a Methamphetamine product.

If they don't listen to you, find another adult you trust to discreetly talk to. Don't just blurt this out to the whole world, as social services could very well overreact and separate you from your parents. Just speak with one trustworthy adult at a time.

I have heard of this but i am not sure what to do i feel for you, i agree that most kids with adhd don't do so well in school like you. but my advice is if you're not happy about it maybe you could talk to the school nurse or counselor and maybe they can find an alternative to this. i wouldn't want to take them either pls try and talk to someone else i have heard horror stories about ppl who take those pills they're addictive. I'm glad you dont want to take them i'm not to big on pills my self.

It seems like psychiatrists and parents are quick to shove a pill down your throat to solve all your problems. They don't realize the issues. Maybe you could look up the drug on the net and print out some info to show them why you SHOULDN'T be taking it. My only question is, why did they feel you need to see a psychiatrist?

you don't get prescribed the actual meth that people are cooking up at home. it is a pill to help you control your adhd and it won't get you in trouble.

what have you done that made your parents think you needed a "kook" doctor? From the tone of your statement, you probably need something to calm you.
