good results with accutane?

Question

i am being put on accutane for my acne and i wanted people who have taken to tell me how it worked for them. i am not looking for people to tell me to try proactiv or something, ive tried every presciption topical cream, antibiotic, and anything else. if you had any side affects let me know, thatd be helpful...thank you

fyi: im being started on a low dose (20 mg at 180 lbs) so i hopefully wont break out really bad at first.

I went on it and it worked pretty good. The oil will come back after the course and so will the acne. It is worth it though because the acne will be way less severe. I think every course you go through will make it less severe every time. I'm pretty much outgrowing my acne by now but accutane helped out a lot. Don't have your doctor give you to high of doses because it can really screw with you. I was on 80mg a day and I only weigh 140 and it made me blush uncontrollably but its pretty much going away since i've been off it. You don't have to lotion and chapstick as much as everyone says either. The people who talk about it being unbearable are just sissies and can't take any side effects. Good luck bud

Don't believe the not being able to drink or take tylenol. You just can't drink while you're on it. Once the course is over drink away and pop as much tylenol as u want.

I used Accutane several years ago when I had bad acne. I must've been about 17 when I started, and I do not remember my dosage.

After two months, my acne was all gone. I never had the "break out really bad at first" stage, so I suppose I was fortunate. In fact, I had no negative side effects. I religiously washed my skin and learned to take care of it after the Accutane did the initial job of clearing it up so well. 6 years later, my skin looks great and healthy! Good luck!

I was put on it when it first was released back in the early 90's. I had some definite negative reations, bloody noses, flaky skin, even blood in my stool. But, it was not painful, just a hassel at times. I didn't have at huge break out either at the beginning. My results were fantastic! I had terrible acne and after taking it for a number of months, my skin completly cleared up and the acne has NEVER come back. You just have to be aware of risks associated with taking this. Especially the pregnancy issue, there is almost a 100% chance that a baby conceived when one of the parents is on accutain will have serious birth defects. But all in all, my experience was perfect and I would do it all over again. Good Luck!

my son took accutane for two years, and it cleared his acne completely. There was a price to pay however, he can no longer take tylenol or anything with tylenol in it, and he can not drink alcohol. Both cause him terrible pain. Accutane is very hard on the liver. So be good to yourself and make sure you avoid those two things from now on, as both tylenol and alcohol are metabolized in the liver.

It is a difficult thing to put up with. Your entire body (mostly your lips) will peel over and over. Also, your acne will be 10 times as bad as normal for the first 3 weeks or so.

All that said, it probably will solve your problem. It worked for me.

My friend went through 2 courses of it (not sure of the dose) and it worked wonders for him. I remember it being particularly rough on his lips (had to buy this thick lip jelly -- sry cant remember the name). He did act a little funny though after he got off it..Overall, he said it was definately worth it in the end .. good luck

my fiance and ex-supervisor has used it before. it works great; however, there is a very bad side effect - depression which has lead to suicides. thank god no one i know has that gone that bad.

both of them are now completely clear of acne, but my fiance did go into a depression for just a little.

it's good, just be aware and be occupied.

i mite get on it aswell.and im pure craping my self if i do lol,just the side affects and all.
