I've been running a fever for the past three days, the highest my temperature has been is 101.7 F. I don't feel sick, the only reason I checked my temp was because my husband said that my skin felt really warm. I've been able to control it with Tylenol, but about 4 hours after I take the Tylenol it starts to climb again. Its usually higher in the mornings after I've been asleep all night and haven't taken anything for it.

The only other condition I have is an epigastric hernia, and I don't know if it could be related to that or not.

I have a doctor's appointment next week, but I'm starting to get a little concerned? Any ideas what can cause a persistent fever with no other symptoms?

Don't worry. That's not a high fever, just a fever. Could be viral or bacterial, but your body is obviously taking care of the problem. That's what a fever does, raises your temp. above the living temp of the pathogen. Fevers are not bad as long as they do not get too high (104+). Don't worry it will go away. Many infections can persist for a week or more.

It should have nothing to do with your hernia. No big deal, just listen to your body. And keep hydrated.

Usually if you have a fever for more than 3 days, it's a good idea to see a doctor. If your temperature doesn't get any higher than 102 F, it might be best not to take the Tylenol, because fever is one of the ways our bodies fight off infection. Mayo Clinic has a very helpful sight that you might find useful.

Go to your doctor right away. A high fever like that for that many days is extremely hard on your body. It could be a sign that you have some sort of infection within your body.

wow.............fever that high ain't good

hernia has nothing to do with your (new) problem. A fever is a sign of infection in the body.

Make a *full* list of the things bothering you and take it with you to the doctor. Meanwhile visit Web MD....

I would agree that it's an infection of some kind that hasn't shown any symptoms yet. Good luck at the doctor.

probably a viral load of some sort that isn't big enough yet to cause any other symptoms.
