In the name of God, the Gracious, the Merciful

And remember when the angels said, 'O Mary, God has chosen thee and purified thee and chosen thee above all women of the time.'

When the angels said, 'O Mary, God gives thee glad tidings of a son through a Word from Him; his name shall be the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, honoured in this world and in the next, and of those who are granted nearness to God;

And sets forth as an example Mary, the daughter of Imran, who guarded her chastity - so We breathed into him of Our Spirit -and she fulfilled the prophecy conveyed to her in the words of her Lord contained in His Books and she was one of the obedient.

Yes I've heard this and also in Baha'i writings. They refer to her as "Miryam" I believe. I find in this very satisfying feeling of oneness, of some kind of thing we all have in common. I wish there was no strife in the world. I wonder what it is all for?

You may want to correct that .... Mary was chosen above the Women of ALL the Universe, Read the verse in Arabic. This is why we are in schism .... i.e. the Muslims, we can't accept that the Fazal on the children of Israel was and is the highest God has bestowed on anyone in the Universe.

Allah chose Adam, Noah, Family of Abraham and Family of Imran above all the Universe (Surah Al-Imran)

The chosen ones are, in order of appearance on this earth;

1. Adam (Father of Mankind)
2. Noah (Nooh)(On whom Allah sends peace in ALL the Universe)
3. Abraham (Ibrahim) (Father of the believers, Leader to Mankind and a friend to God)
4. Lot (Lut) (Sodom and Gomorrah .. need I say more)
5. Ishmael (The one that was almost sacrificed and it was a Trial which both Abraham and Ishmael passed)
6. Isaac (Ishaq)
7. Jacob (Yaqoob) (Aka Israel)
8. Imran (Father of Mary)
9. Mary (Pure and the highest Women in the Universe and a sign to all the Universe)
10. Jesus (Pure, The Messiah, Word of God, A sign to all the Universe and a mercy to Mankind)

Mohammed is the Mercy to all the Universe, the end to the prophethood, Deliverer of the Quran and a follower of Abraham, just like every prophet & messenger from Abraham to Mohammed.

I follow ALL of them .... Peace!

I have never read the Quran. I have heard and seen shows though, that say the Quran refers the Old and New Testaments, but that it refers to Jesus as a great prophet and not the Son of God.

So, it doesn't surprise me that Mary is mentioned...after all it was written 600 years after the death of Christ...so both the Old and New Testaments were available.

Oh, tell them about the talking ants... that's funny!

So how many angels talked to Mary? One, or more than one?

19: 16-19 And make mention of Mary in the Scripture, when she had withdrawn from her people to a chamber looking East, And had chosen seclusion from them. Then We sent unto her Our Spirit and it assumed for her the likeness of a perfect man. She said: Lo! I seek refuge in the Beneficent One from thee, if thou art God- fearing. He said: I am only a messenger of thy Lord, that I may bestow on thee a faultless son.

3: 42 And when the angels said: O Mary! Lo! Allah hath chosen thee and made thee pure, and hath preferred thee above (all) the women of creation.
3: 45 (And remember) when the angels said: O Mary! Lo! Allah giveth thee glad tidings of a word from him, whose name is the Messiah, Jesus, son of Mary, illustrious in the world and the Hereafter, and one of those brought near (unto Allah).

Never knew that. That's quite interesting. I'm aware the Muslims consider themselves to be descendants of Abraham, an that Jesus was considered a prophet, but I never knew that Mary was revered.

The Quran called her falsely the sister of Aaron and Moses.
O sister of Aaron, thy father was not a man of evil, nor your mother a woman unchaste!’" (Sura 19:27-28).

But Aaron, the brother of Moses, lived and died centuries before Mary, the mother of Jesus was born; and Aaron’s sister was Miriam, not Mary.

The Quran also talks about Mary been part of the trinity.

Qur’an.5:116
And behold! Allah will say: "O Jesus the son of Mary! Didst thou say unto men, worship me and my mother as gods in derogation of Allah'?"

He(Jesus defending himself) will say: "Glory to Thee! never could I say what I had no right (to say). Had I said such a thing, thou wouldst indeed have known it. Thou knowest what is in my heart, Thou I know not what is in Thine. For Thou knowest in full all that is hidden.

Doesn’t Allah know already what Jesus said and what he did not say?

I am Catholic, and knew that Muslims agreed with the immaculate conception of Mary and that she had no sin.

But I had not read that in the Quran.
