I mean ... if they can't get past the God delusion ... they certainly won't question anything the government or the corporate lobbyists are doing

I am not above reproach ... and my intent is not to spread hate ... if you perceive it that way, you're taking things personally ... and I can't help you with that
and open mindedness is what I am all about ... open mindedness says I need to change the way I think about things ... not try to change the way someone else thinks about it
which is why I ask the question ... pehaps if you can't think about these kinds of issues without getting upset you shouldn't answer the questions

I think you question is a very honest one. I think most people are blinded by religion, and that blindness affects how they perceive other things. As you had stated, this is meant as an insult, or a put-down, but yes. Its not really Gods' way, but the false ideology behind most religions

On the contrary, I question a lot of what the government and corporate lobbyists are doing. I've questioned the wisdom of selling chemical and biological weapons to Saddam long after he was known to have used them on Kurds and Iranians, the way that government (and businesses) seem to enjoy keeping illegal immigrants illegal (makes them more compliant that way, since you can always ship them out if they make too much noise), the shortsightedness of the U.S.'s anti-communist policy, in which we were willing to overlook just about any atrocity as long as we could count on a leader being in "our" camp... need I go on? And that's probably tame compared to the list I could make for corporate lobbyists. Perhaps it's you who lacks critical thinking about your stereotypes?

I really must admit that I admire your godlike power to prove impossible that which no one has ever proved impossible, that is the existence of God. It is also so clever of you to parrot Dawkins - you even use his very manner of speech! Tell me, oh mighty rational thinker, what preconceived notion did you bring to the reading of his book? Had you already decided that religion was for fools? If this is the case, you can hardly call yourself rational since a rational man sets about to examine the evidence, not find support for his own position.

i agree with you to a point... god did not create the witch burning crusades or the persacution of galileo and free thinkers, it is the people who were in power, kings and popes that did this for there benefit. who wants to believe in a god that is biased??society represses free thinkers, so that those who are in power government etc. can stay in their position without being question about coruption or bad decisions. It is the way of men.

God made different religions to show how some people don't want to follow the RIGHT way of life. The true religion is ISLAM. Most people have different opinions of this, but this is the true thing. Everyone has a mind of their own to think and it's the way people think that makes this world today what it is. Islam is peace. You have to be a true muslim to know what Islam truly means.

i think it's gods way of removing the need to think!
but that can't be true as he's imaginary, so god botherers decide that they don't want to think. all the answers are layed out nicely for them they just have learn by rote.
maybe its a requirement to have your brain removed to become a christian.

something was said...
something bad...
something about me...
D'oh!
really, though, interesting to see that percentage of people believing in God slightly increases at the highest level of education...
...or did did i not get your question. you're critical of those who believe in God, so you're somewhat limited? that couldn't be it... [chortles to self]
