Yes a friendship is possible as long as both practiced Tolerance.
The most lovable quality any human being can possess is tolerance. …. It is the vision that enables one to see things from another’s viewpoint…. It is the generosity that concedes to others the right to their own opinions and their own peculiarities….. It is the bigness that enables us to let people be happy in their own way instead of our way.

It's very possible. I have many atheist friends and sometimes we enjoy having a calm debate on the topic. If we sense that things are heating up we stop the conversation. I am a born-again Christian and respect everybody for their beliefs. Some people claim that we hate other religions but it's either a misconception or somebody who is really dumb and cannot accept the world around them.

sure it's possible, and it happens. Just because they have different beliefs, that doesnt mean they can't or shouldn't be friends. You may get some answers about 'do not be unequally yoked'. I believe this has to do with spiritual work. If I am trying to find GOD with a friend who doesn't believe in GOD, I will most likely have some trouble with it. but, that doesn't mean we can't go have a few beers when we aren't soul searching. Remember Dr. Suess's story of the Zax? There was a north going zax and a south going zax. And they butted heads because both of their agendas caused them to get in the way of the other Zax. They wasted years because they were 'unequally yoked'. But, they could have still been friends, even though they were searching for something different. I'm a devout christian and I have lots of friends of different faiths. Doesn't mess with my faith.

It is not only possible, it happens every day. Can a cat and a dog be friends? They are always at each other's throats too, yet if they find one they like, they take notice and forge a friendship.

No, it is not possible for the word of God plainly states to be not friends with the world for he that loves the world the love of the Father is not in him. We are to love the sinner but we are warned that one bad apple can spoil the whole bunch so we are to find the fellowship of those within the body of Christ..Those in which we will spend eternity with and the atheist will do the same.

Absolutely. I am Pagan and have Christian friends. When you take religion out of the equation people are just people and friends are friends no matter what. I would love to have atheist and muslim friends just to see life through other eyes and be enriched by it.

Some of my friends are Christians. Some other of my friends are atheists. They are also friends with each other.
I think they can, as long as nobody is a fanatic either way. Zealots of the two ideologies are two sides of the same coin.

Of course it is possible. As long as you are truly tolerant of their beliefs.
Many of my friends are not atheists. They are of a variety of different faiths. We don't spend time talking theology for the most part though.
