There are novels and there are historical novels. The DaVinci code is not even a historical novel.
The Priory of Sion did not come into existence until about the 1950s. Put Priory of Sion in under search on your search engine.
The genealogy is a forgery by a French anti semite and con artist who admitted it was a forgery.
The Dead Sea Scrolls do not mention Jesus, Mary Magdalene or Christianity.
The Knights Templar were banished in the 1300s
The Jesuit order was not founded until the 1500s.
Josh Bernstein of the History Channel got a bone from a "supposed direct descendant" of Jesus and Mary Magdalene. He had DNA tests done. It showed no Middle Eastern DNA, only European.
Gnostic Christians believed the material world including the flesh was evil.
John the Apostle was much younger than all the other apostles. In the painting that DaVinci did of the Last Supper John the Apostle does look according to our way, of seeing things today feminine. However, DaVinci's painting of John the Baptist also looks feminine.
Also what church has elevated a woman more than than the Catholic Church in its reverence for Mary, the mother of Jesus.
The Church has always acknowledged that the accusations against the Knights Templar might not have been true. King Philip IV of France had his own animosity against them. This was during the Avignon papacy and the French king brought pressure on the Pope to abolish the Knights.

It is complete fiction. The Priory of Sion and the "Bloodline of Jesus" were invented by a Frenchman in the 1950s and he admitted such under oath in court. The Da Vinci Code is bad art history and bad church history and is completely unbelievable as well as libelous.

Here we go again. The DaVinci Code is a work of fiction, that, Dan Brown, plagiarized from an earlier work of fiction, Holy, Blood; Holy, Grail.

No, for the millionth time, it is a work of fiction. There is nothing real in it. (Other then the Catholic belief stuff.)
The rest is all made up.
And, seriously, if that's the very best book you've ever read, I'd hate to know what the second best is. That book stunk.

The Da Vinci Code is a work of quasi-historical fiction (just like the Bible).

Nope. The list of the members was cobbled together in the 1950's. Other than that fictitious list, there is no historical evidence which supports this. There is plenty of material concerning this on the net, such as http://www.debunkingdavinci.com
Hope this helps.

It is a book of FICTION..
Written to make money, the Bible was written by men, most of whom knew Jesus and ended up getting killed for it,
So do not just say, "Both were written by man" and put the two on the same level.
If you are Catholic, I STRONGLY suggest you read the Catechism of the Catholic Church.
Good Luck and God Bless!
