Do you believe natural disasters are an effect of sin?

I do think that some natural disasters may be a result of the sin in that place, mainly because of the story of Sodom and Gomorrah(I hope that is spelled right), where the town was so full of sin God destroyed it by volcanic eruption. But why can only Christians who believe in evolution answer this question?? Evolution is proven by science. Now, the creation of the world through evolution, I don't believe. I do believe animals have evolved. That's obvious.

That's left open to interpretation by my religion (Catholicism).

However, it is my personal opinion that it is merely a part of the function of the Earth. I don't think it's from people's sins, unless science can prove that a hurricane, for example, was the effect of global warming, which was the effect of pollution, which was the effect of human abuse to the environment. In which case, that would sort of be caused by "human sin" toward the environment.

A truly natural disaster not scientifically caused by human hand, however, is probably just the natural course of weather phenomena that occurs on Earth. Why do innocent people get hurt? It's just the way the world works, I guess. Everyone sins, so it seems like we'd all have been wiped out by now if that were the intention of a natural, God-sent disaster.

I don't believe in evolution but yes natural disasters are a result of sin but not one person or one groups sins. Sin is a disease that effects the earth we live in as well

If natural disasters were the immediate effect of sin, there wouldn't be any of us left because all of us have sinned at one time or another.

But I do believe that natural disasters are the effect of sin in the sense that there wouldn't have been any if Adam had not sinned, since his sin was the means by which death came into the world.

I do believe evolution is the best theory going with the information we have at this time.
I do have some problems with evolution and not going to go into them here but I am comfortable with the theory of evolution.

Those how think it is fact are just as delusional as those who believe in the "young" Earth idea.

There is so much to learn.

As far as natural disasters goes I do believe some are brough onto us by ourselves.

Evolution doesn't disprove G-d and never will if that is your goal you are abusing science like the creationists.

As a whole - yes. I believe they are nature going haywire, and us choosing to be out of God's covering.

But I don't believe that everyone hit by one is "being punished." I just think they are a consequence of living in a fallen world. If things were the way they should be, God would cover us against being devastated by disasters in one way or another.

There are also times, noted in the Bible, that God will actually use a natural disaster as judgment. But it in no way says that EVERY natural disaster is judgment.

I believe that natural disasters are a result of the imperfect state of the Earth that resulted from Adam and Eve's disobedience in the Garden of Eden, but I definitely don't subscribe to the notion that Hurricane Katrina (or anything else) is a result of homosexuality or America's acceptance of it.

That's just an ignorant, intolerant and un-Biblical opinion! :0(

No. I believe the great natural forces that lead to natural disasters are necessary to keep this planet in balance.

Why is this only a question for people who believe in evolution? Why can't this be a question for everyone?

We rape, pillage and plunder this world. This gift to us from the Father. Our total disregard for this gift has left us with the phenomenon of global warming. Famine and droughts world wide.

Since greed is a sin and it was greed that landed us in this predicament, wouldn't you say the resulting famine and drought are the effects of sin?

Friend Lucky, you clearly don't know ALL Christians. Catholics have always allowed that evolution is a possibility. Evolution under the guidance of God.

i became raised as a Christian yet I nevertheless settle for evolution. i'm going to describe why. God suggested, "enable there be easy. " And He observed the easy became solid. i'm particularly particular that once the super Bang happened, there became countless sunshine. i don't experience the previous testomony became meant to be taken actually. Adam and Eve are symbolic of society on the time. i think of it truly is the component in historic previous whilst guy began to question himself approximately his very own morals. perhaps human beings the place placing out to be much less nomadic than in the previous and for this reason had to take accountability for the relationships that they had with others around them. maximum Christians stay by way of the hot testomony. those are the training of Jesus. they're elementary morals that everybody ought to stay by way of.
