using photoshop, how can i change a photograph into a clean high contrast black and white?

i need to design a t-shirt using a photograph of the famous castillo/corrales fight in 2005. i'm trying to turn the color photograph into a high contrast black and white image that will print well and look good on a t-shirt. all my methods in the past are failing.
