Go ahead and sign the title over to your friend (if he agrees to accept that liability), BUT BE SURE to get a written agreement between the two of you and have it notorized that he will sign it back over. This would make a legal binding contract. Then let him drive it back to Texas under his insurance. Upon his ownership, he can check with his company to see if he has the "automatic coverage" (usually 30 days). REMEMBER, if he wrecks it though, you might be SOL unless you put it in the contract that he owes its value if he wrecks it. Good Luck to ya both!

Well your goal is to get it driveable to Texas - right. The long way around might be to title it over to your friend and then have them do it. As you already discovered he will have to have insurance to complete the registration. But your friend, in turn is taking the risk of your driving safely in 'his' car. Since you have no license, that means if you have in accident he is up sh*t creek with or without insurance. Even if you do not have an accident, if you are pulled over you risk having the vehicle towed and impounded.
If you have someone else with a license that works and then your only problem is that of being sure that your friend will sign the car back over to you in Texas.
one other option that avoids a lot of that is simply to have a licensed driver rent a truck and trailer the car back to texas. Then you have the time and single step process of registering it in texas in YOUR name.
What the heck kind of car is worth all this hassle anyway???

Your friend can register the car and get insurance for it. But if someting happens when you're driving it. The insurance wont cover the damages.
Good Luck

learn to friggin spell retard number one. Get a license unless of course you are so retarded you can't pass it. Sounds like you are screwed and likely to drive it to Texas anyway where you will probably have an accident on the way, and with no insurance you will create a big problem for someone and my premiums will go up because, well, your dumb. How you plan on getting it across the border when you get there?(i am sure that is the plan)

you cant buy a car without a license, if somehow you did, you can sell it to him and hope your friendship is strong enough that he will sell it back to you
