I am giving you this advice from person experience, nothing from any books....

First: Know your subject, front and back, don't get into a position to lose your train of thought then have to pause to regain composure.

Second: Pick a spot to focus on, remember to start at this position then rotate around the room, get back to that point, then look to the other side of the room, and back to the spot.

Third: Get your audience involved, ask everyone easy questions that noone has to think about, (example: if your presentation is about volcano's, ask the class if anyone knows what the name of the hot red stuff is that comes out of the top is called) this part is key, get the audience involved....if you get the audience nothing else will matter.

Good Luck...

Make sure that the facts are in order, and that your opening is a wee bit funny...maybe
"Asian proverb: egg falls on stone - too bad for egg. Stone falls on egg - too bad for egg"

When the laughter fades, bring in your topic making it somewhat refer to the egg proverb. (Of course, if the egg proverb is nothing at all to do with the paper, ignore it!)

Eye contact is good, material on small cards is good, stand up tall and take your time. . . if you loose your place, do not say "Oops I have lost my place" , just look at the papers until you find it. Make them think that the pause is intentional.

At the end, thank the 'audience' for their attention and ask "Any questions?"

Make eye contact with the audience.
Dont hesitate - instead ask the audience a question, or ask a rhetorical question, e.g. how would you feel?

Breathe deeply. Glance up at audience every now and then. Remember it will be over soon!!! Don't stare at your notes.
