I've been unemployed for a little over a month now and have sent several resumes to various potential employers online, but all I ever get back are sales job leads some of which I'm sure are bogus. Is monster.com, careerbuilders.com, hotjobs.com etc for real?

Some of them actually do. I have had myself the opportunity of publishing my resume online of a specialized site and I have had answers and offers as well. As a matter of fact, I am working now at a job I found on one of these sites.

I have gotten several wonderful jobs by posting my resume on careerbuilder.com, hotjobs.com and monster.com. Recruiters will often read through resumes when they are looking for potential employees.

I have been working as a contractor for a while which is great. The market here is very competive so I haven't had to do a whole lot in order to get hired.

They are for real and they do work. Plus, you can search on job criteria that interst you and you send your resume to those employers.

Good Luck!

I have my own company and I have to say that yes. I have hired people who i found from the internet. I use Craigs list a lot and I would recommend it. It has been good to me. I have also seen good results from monster.com I have no experience with others though.

Monster worked for me.

So has headhunter.com and hotjobs.com

Put better keywords in your resume if you have good experience.

Otherwise, go to a couple of temp agencies and have them look for you while you are searching yourself.

They can work, but don't limit yourself to those - also use more traditional ways of searching.

Good luck.
