Very interesting. I have heard some of these but #9 about the babies is very scary. #23 - they probably granted some guy a million dollar grant to find out about the poor scorpions. George Carlin is funny and right on most of the time.

Vinster8: "A longstanding urban legend had linked Lucci to comedienne Phyllis Diller as Diller's daughter. The two entertainers are not related in any way." (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Susan_Lucci) So you are correct man, number 5 is an urban legend, however,

All paper made before 1867 was made from hemp. Drafts of both the Constitution, and the Declaration of Independence was written on the paper of the time: hemp and rag paper. Rags being made from the old clothing of the time, which was mostly hemp for poor people and cotton for rich people. (A hemp shirt could be bought for 90 cents, a cotton shirt over $100 in the 1700's) The technology for reducing trees to paper pulp were not invented until that time.

Final drafts of both documents were printed and distributed on parchment, which is animal skins. But the documents were drafted on hemp paper. Most bibles, even today are made from hemp paper produced in France.

I don't know for sure if they used to do this with grapes but I know they did it with orange trees. In between the trees, the farmer would have these basins. When the farmer would hear about a frost coming, he would pour oil/gas into the basins and ignite it. The basins were like little chimneys--they let out warm smoke to keep the frost from freezing the oranges and rotting them. Sometimes, this would go on for days depending on the inclement weather. If the farmer ran out of fuel, he was out of luck if the frost kept up. The groves would be full of smoke from the burning fuel.

ERRRRRR!!!!! NUMBER 29 IS WRONG!!! There are no such things as negative calories, and apples have 80 calories per medium sized apple, so they are definitely NOT negative calories. Celery would be the only one to be considered one, but technically everything we ingest (besides water) has calories to burn.
