c) other
The church said something or did something that hurt you.
Atheists are loving people.
You might have been feeling hurt because you saw all the money going to the church and not the poor.
You saw all the repetitious prayer as foolishness.
You see all the suffering in this world and cry just like me.
I'm sure there are nights that you hold that pillow wondering how can a God let us suffer.
I know because I have been there before.
I questioned my faith many of times.
I don't think you are lost or angry or in denial.
I just think you need someone to hold on to.
Its so easy to give up in the fight.
Its so easy push people away instead of holding their hand when they feel down.
You are flesh and blood just like me.
You are not a computer, Maryanne.
Tell me, does a scientist give up on finding the common ancestor in one location?
No, he searches many locations until he finds the right spot.
So its the same with you.
Did it ever occur to you that maybe, just maybe you are searching in the wrong church?
I am not saying God is in church, its just that you never went to a pentecostal or presbyterian or protestant.
You haven't experienced the power of worship music.
You haven't had enough experience.
You are basing everything on one denomination, namely the Catholic church.
I challenge you to attend a different denomination for the sole purpose of self discovery.
I think you may decline.
You are your worst enemy.
The battle isn't waged on the stage, no its fought within your heart.
A boxer does not fight against an opponent, he fights against his spirit.
Never give up in the fight.
God has never given up on me and I will never give up on you!
God Bless

I believe what I constantly rave and rant about: altruism, wisdom and compassion simply because it really does work in the long run. However, many, I'm SURE consider me a "jerk" as well... I'm empty of inherent existence, it doesn't bother me what labels others choose to project on me, as long as they're not causing harm and suffering for others. That's the point I really come off to many people as a "jerk" because I dare to stand in the way.

Of course we believe what we say. Unfortunately some are bona-fide jerks.

I do take offense at being labeled "misguided" though. If anything I consider myself unguided in that I choose to find my own understandings and beliefs, rather than having them fed to me.

do you consider it being a jerk because it is against what you believe or because they are being rude? And do christians respond in the same way to atheists as atheists respond to them?
And I am not an atheist.

I Believe that I don't know how we got here (as no one does). I believe that I don't know what happens when we die (as no one does). I also don't believe in god what so ever all though there could be a god somewhere that did create us I want nothing to do with him and will never kneel him and worship that is what i believe.

I am not an atheist but, am offended by this post...the same could be asked of fundamentalist Christians...

Do you really have conviction of the heart in what you say...or are you repeating your religions dogma with little thought..

Or are you only trying to be jerks?
