It is neither our soul nor our mind that feels the guilt. It is the living being (the soul atman manifesting a form) that feels the guilt! And why does the human being feels guilty? Whenever something tends to go wrong dictated by our ego... our soul atman that resides within our heart prompts from within with a message that is distinct and clear, "whatever thy do is wrong!"

Only those human beings who travel the path of absolute truthfulness hear the distinct clear voice of our soul atman within that always prompts us on the right path. We must always bear in mind that it is our soul atman within that has manifested the body and not vice versa. Whenever prompted by our ego... we choose a path not conforming to the requirements of our soul atman within... we are prompted from within that rights from wrong.

To follow or not to follow is the sole prerogative of every human being. About 99% people in life who pursue the path of wanton desires and materialistic riches never hear the sweet small inner voice of our soul atman within. Always deprived of the guidance of our soul atman within... such people lose sense of life! They finally treat life as burden unjustly imposed.

Every soul atman is on its cosmic journey of 8.4 million manifestations (an earthly cycle of 96.4 million years). One reaches the manifest stage of human form after crossing 7.3 million manifestations. Still, as a human being if we do not follow the dictates of our soul atman within that always guide us on the right path... why blame God or the destiny!

The impurities within the soul can only be removed by taking absolute control of the five senses and the mind. It is a difficult task as God Almighty ordained a long journey of 12.1 million years in the human form alone to achieve the same. Those who reach the stage of enlightenment (kaivalya jnana) in this very life have the special grace of God... reaching the last leg of cosmic life... the 8.4 millionth manifestation is the end goal of every living being! Guilt is an emotion so it would be felt primarily in the emotional body and the soul, but also in the mind. You don't need to cure your soul just cure your mind and heart. There are soulogists - spiritual psychologists, priests, mystics etc.

The soul is pure conciousness. It doesnt feel guilt or things like that. Those emotions come from the human ego. The mind agonizes and worries simply because it feels that that is what it is supposed to do.

You can learn to use the pure and untainted energy from you soul to clear the negative thoughts from your mind. Then you will be able to think more calmly and control your emotions better.

Guilt is supposed to happen when someone knowingly does wrong (sins). This is your conscience telling you to go back to God.

There would be something wrong with you if you sinned and did not feel guilty. Sociopaths feel no guilt.

Only God can forgive sin.

When a penitent person asks God for forgiveness, his (or her) sins are immediately forgiven.

Catholics also believe that when someone sins they not only hurt their relationship with God, they also injure the entire church, the body of Christ.

Jesus said, "I will give you the keys to the kingdom of heaven. Whatever you bind on earth shall be bound in heaven; and whatever you loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven." (Matthew 16:19)

And when he had said this, he breathed on them and said to them,"Receive the holy Spirit. Whose sins you forgive are forgiven them, and whose sins you retain are retained." (Luke 20:22-23)

Oral confessing sins is recommended over and over in both the Old and New Testaments:
+ James 5:16
+ Acts 19:18
+ Matthew 3:5-6
+ Mark 1:5
+ 1 Timothy 6:12
+ 1 John 1:9
+ Numbers 5:6-7
+ Nehemiah 9:2
+ Sirach 4:26

The Sacrament of Penance and Reconciliation with a priest ordained in the name of Jesus Christ not only reconciles the sinner to God but with the entire church, including you and me.

With love in Christ.

i do not think that going to confession and having the priest tell you to say 10 hail marys is going to do the job. personal opinion is that i confess to the Lord my sins and defects every day, and so far, He seems to have forgiven me and blessed me over and over without any priest in the middle of it all. the Lord is there on the line 24 hours seven days a week. why wait until certain hours of confession when He is waiting for you already? Good luck and God bless.
