I'm taking Keflex at the moment for my acne and am wondering about side effects and how long it will be before I see results? Does it work or are there other antibiotics out there that are more effective (most over the counter stuff either makes it worse or just plain doesn't work).

Thanks.

keflex isn't usually used for acne as it targets bacteria such as streptococcus and staphylococcus which are normally not associated with acne. Depending on your grade of acne there are other prescription products available such as isotretinoin, tretinoin and topical antibiotics. There are pros and cons associated with each drug choice so go back and see your doctor, dermatologist or pharmacist and ask them to explain the choices available.

Keflex is a heavy duty antibiotic. You might notice a metallic taste in your mouth while taking them, and with strong antibiotics like these, you sometimes develop yeast infections.
