I had a collections account that was open deleted from my CR. My score dropped 16 points! I thought it would go up. Can someone please clarify this for me? I'm trying to clean up my credit and feel like I'm not getting anywhere! I was at 630! Which is up from 544 nine months ago.

Even though it was a negative, you lost history from your reports when it dropped off.

While repairing credit you will see ups and downs, theres no getting around it. And if you don't have a strong file, long history and plenty of other accounts in good standing, your score loss will be greater and possibly take a little longer to get back to, or above, where they were.

But, with that said, your scores should start to rise over the next few months if you keep your positive accounts in good standing.
