We will when we check if our thoughts are Kindly, if our Speech is Gentle and Encouraging, and if our actions are Helpful and Benevolent....
All these spring from a heart that is Kind.

By how others respond to us.
I was told how kind I was this weekend, after being hit my another motorcyclist, who ended up hospitalized after his injuries. Despite his trashing my bike and injuring me slightly, I still went to the hospital, picked him up after surgery and brought him to my home and fed him dinner - and didnt even know the guy but for ten minutes.
And all he kept saying was that he knew I had a kind heart and that he had never met a person with that outlook on life.
And, Im an atheist.

Our conscience. The prevervial devil sitting on one shoulder and the angel on the other. But for real now...Once Jesus ascended into heaven He sent the Holy Spirit to teach us what is wrong and what is right. But don't think just being a good person gets you into heaven. Only Jesus can get you in because He is the way, the truth and the light. No man comes to the Father except through Him (Jesus Christ).

I'm not all that certain that we can. I just try to live my life with good intentions. I treat others the way I'd like to be treated. I feel that I have alot of compassion, and I try to help those who need it. I've always felt that "love" was something that you truly can't measure. Your either nice, or your not.

If you have no desire to hurt or cause harm to any living being, but only want to help and give comfort, then you have a kind heart.

When we cannot bear to say or do nasty things to others because such actions bring forth pain/hurt in other. SO when we cannot bear to see someone in pain on a consistent basis.... then we know at least we are not Mean and Nasty

If you are concerned with how kind you are, you are paying too much attention to yourself, and not enough to others.

Altruism... by working diligently for the happiness of others, you will become happier yourself by default.
So, how happy ARE you?
