I think you need to figure out if you two actually have a shot. If you do, then you need to talk to your sister first and make sure that it isn't going to create any riffs between the two of you. After all, family is way more important than a guy any day.

But if you really wanna do this, just run it by your sister to be 100% sure she's cool, she may have some reservations about the idea that you just want to be sure to get out before betraying her in a way you didn't see coming.

I think that what you did is a big no, no. He is your sister's ex for a reason. Secondly, it is disrespectful not only to her but to you. I would leave him and that situation alone. And I'm sure that if and when she finds out she will not appreciate it. Find you someone else. Anyone but your sister's ex.
