Graduating from high school is highly anxiety-provoking. I pray that you'll find peace.

Why do you think you're going to Africa? In college you might consider getting involved with the international community to give yourself a better understanding of different cultures. There is a missions festival in Vancouver, B.C. every year, and I'm sure other areas have these too. The more you learn about missions the less it will seem like a big scarey mystery. Anyway. Grace and peace to you. God won't call you to do more than you can, through Him.

When I feel really nervous about an upcoming event, I like to think of Jeremiah 29:11, "For I know the plans I have for you," declares the LORD, "plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future."

Another good one is Matthew 28:20, "I am with you always, until the ends of the earth."

I was recently in Africa - where do you think you'll be going? I have to say that it really is very, very different there, particularly outside of the cities. I think its important to identify, specifically, what it is you're nervous about, and then try to address those issues one by one. And to remember its okay, normal even, to be nervous! While I can't say that my time in Africa was the best time in my life, it certainly was an amazing experience that I wouldn't have missed. Good luck!

Jer. 29:11 "For I know the thoughts that I think toward you, saith the Lord, thoughts of peace, and not of evil, to give you an expected [good] end"

Remember that you are already a missionary! Going to a different location (Africa) will just change the scenery.

My prayers are with you!

Isaiah 6:8

8 Also I heard the voice of the Lord, saying:

"Whom shall I send ,
And who will go for Us?"

Then I said, "Here am I! Send me." NKJV

Mercy Me did a song, "Send me" tract 2, can't think of the name of the CD...came out about 4/5 years ago. Awesome CD! But it was about this verse.

Peace be with you. Remember to study Eph. 6 (Spiritual Warfare). You'll be glad you have God's Word.

Isa 54:17
17 No weapon formed against you shall prosper,
And every tongue which rises against you in judgment
You shall condemn.
This is the heritage of the servants of the Lord,
And their righteousness is from Me,"
Says the Lord. NKJV

2 Tim 1:7
7 For God has not given us a spirit of fear, but of power and of love and of a sound mind. NKJV

I encourage you to get a bible scripture promise book. One that has verses about fear.

Joyce Meyer has a good one. Also, when you know God has called you to this, & you have a time shaking the fear, do it afraid.

Because I did this in the past, I realize that God rewards us today with a crown of courage, because we do it anyway in obedience to God. I was shaking in my shoes and splotchy, etc. while telling a testimony completely without being shouted down. Later God rewarded me with a crown of courage. I didn't feel courageous. But God called me courageous.

Greater is He who is in you than he who is in the world. Jesus Christ is your righteousness. If God be for you, who can be against you. If you are persecuted for Christ Righteousness sake, rejoice & be excedingly glad, for also the true Prophets were persecuted; for Great is your reward. In all things I do in word or deed, I will do as unto the Lord. If I do a mission in His Name, I do as unto the Lord. If I die, I will die as unto the Lord. Whatever, I am forever with the Lord.

These are a few that just come to mind.

In all things give thanks for this pleases God. Without faith, it is impossible to please God, for those who come to God, must believe God Is, and is a rewarder to those who come to Him.

Also meditate on whatsoever is true, lovely, etc...Philippians 4. And the God of peace will keep you. Read all of chapter 4.

God bless you abundantly above whatever you could ask or think.

I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

For God has not given me the spirit of fear but of a sound mind through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen

For God has given me the power to tread upon serpents and scorpions and nothing shall by any means hurt you.

Don't be scared God is your Shield he will protect you and keep you once your mind is stayed on him. Put on the whole armor of God and wield the shield of faith and the sword of the spirit and you will be victorious.

Many people have already given you the 23 Psalm and that is appropriate. It has comforted me many times, while in combat in Vietnam, as a prisoner in a soviet prison, as a missionary in the Middle east, Philippines, and as a missionary in Zimbabwe. May the Lord bless you and comfort you in your service to Him.

In Christ
