"Manuscript Found" may have been written after or at the same time the BoM was published, and does have some dissimilarities. It is suggested that Spaulding's work is based on a earlier 'script which was more true to his oral stories he is reputed to have related.

However, Manuscript Found is a better historical book that reflects the early 19th century ideas of the origins of the American Indian, burial mounds, etc.

By comparison, the BoM is a ponderous, repetitive, droning text made to sound like it's 'biblical', and contains much copied from the bible and even more absolutely ludicrous and outrageous commentary.

I would make a comparison of either both books as contemporaries, or compare the BoM with "Dune" by Frank Herbert or "Lord of the Rings". They're all about imaginary civilizations set at imaginary times. Only one has absolutely NO imagination present...

Manuscript Found, by Solomon Spalding is a lot shorter. The Book of Mormon has so many different stories in it ( like the Bible ) that it's going to be hard to put together a good report.

I think Manuscript Found, by Solomon Spalding would be your best bet.

The best would be "The Ossian Chronicles" by James MacPherson. It predates the BOM by over 100 years and it was found under similar circumstances (16 year old digging in a hill etc.) and it has spawned a revolution in writing styles. The BOM and the books it came from

The Book of Mormon. Im not mormon but I worked at a job where I was the only non-Mormon there and they told me about the Book. There was this one story where some dude went James Bond style and got a disguise, and even changed his voice to resemble a house servent and stole something (I think it was a golden tablet) and high tailed it with his family to somewhere in South America.

Oh yea, and theres another they were telling me that some tribe of Mormons couldnt fight another tribe that was attacking them, so they had their fifteen year old children fight the invaders because for some reason the children werent as holy as their parents, something like that. These were some savage little kids too

Manuscript Found. The Book of Mormon is a compilation of many books and would not be suitable for a book report.

Manuscript found was published by the LDS church. They want everyone to know that there is no way it could ahve been plagiarized into the Book of Mormon.

Manuscript found is a total farce. Sorry, but it is.. This is a question to try and bait us "Mormons" into a fight. I won't fight with you, and I won't listen to crap claims about us, which is what this is.
