He didn't HAVE to do it. He willingly died for us. The amount did not matter. One drop or all of it. Any amount is enough to cover every sin of every person that believes in Him.

To be an actual sacrifice, he had to die.
As far as what was enough to cover everyone's sins, it's a matter of quality vs. quantity.

Quality meaning: Jesus was perfect and sinless-- that's how his blood could cover the sins of everyone. If a sinful human had died instead, even if every drop of blood were poured out, it couldn't have been the sacrfice needed to pay for our sins.

He only had to shed one single drop of that precious holy blood to save an entire universe of sinners but men in their hatred and wickedness wanted every last drop.

Just a drop of Christ's blood would have done the job. He was WILLING to sacrifice his life for us. The blood that was shed was priceless. What an awesome God we serve.

All of it.

By his dying for us, he shed all his blood, which is the sacred source of life.

So, for all of us to be saved from sin, Jesus had to give his life.

In order of magnitude, one drop would have sufficed.
We are so insignificant in the universe that it would have been enough to carry on till the end of time.

Even though one drop of His precious blood was enough, He bled and died, to show just how much He truly loves us.

The bible says that he bled from every pore in Gethsemane.

That is a lot of blood.
