I recall there being a small amount of moral outrage from some Christians... Anyone have links or anything?

They were really tormenting and demonising the pioneering heart transplant doctor Christian Barnard I know that much as I once met a woman who worked for him.

There is always "a small group" who yells about anything. I'm surprized someone hasn't questioned the very right to the air we breath, and then taxed it.

Anyway, I not only have a daughter who was one of the first heart transplant patients, but I am a Christian.
In addition, I worked for several years for an IV Pharaceutical company and we monitored the heart transplants and provided all necessary iv medications as required.
God gave us a brain to use, not to let sit there. Luke the Apostle was a medical doctor. Proverbs tells you that only a fool would not listen to the medical advise of their physician. I believe that.

Moral outrage, I have no links to moral outrage. I know a few church people though, if you could put them all in a huge revival temple and tell me where they are, I will gladly stand atop a hill and pee in their general direction. And then I'll wish them all the best.

"Transplants" can be divided into two types: Harvesting organs/tissue from the dead or organs/tissue without harming the donner(kidney, liver, cornia's, bone marrow, blood, plasma)

VS harvesting organs from those who are brain dead but life is sustained through medical devices (heart, lung).

Catholic Faith is for human dignity (from when spearm leaves man's genitals through the last breath). As such we're routing for medical proceedures that save life while maintaining human dignity. Heart and Lung transplants that require taking the patient off life support violate human dignity.

I do recall the first heart transplant, but I do not recall a religious back lash.
Some one or group will disapprove of anything from A to Z. I am not referring to only religious groups; but to humans in general.
You might please some of the people some of the time, but you cannot please all the people all the time.

I don't think except that there are some Christians who don't believe in operations.

I do think it is kind of strange how when you mention stem cells people think Christians are against all stem cell studies which isn't true.
There are all sorts of sources of stem cells.
We happen to object to one line that comes from destroying embryos.
It doesn't matter that those stem cells have yet to provide a cure or there are other ways to get those type of cells.

I think is just a case of Christian-phobia which you seem to practice.

Funny how a man named Christiaan Barnard performed the first successful heart transplant.

Might have been, I was pretty young when they first began doing them...but I would not have been in the indignant bunch anyway.

I vaguely remember some small outcry about it from some christian groups, but the majority were fine with the idea in principle.
