My coworker leaves his puppy in his car (the puppy is in it right now) hes parked in the shade, windows are down a crack on one side and there is water in the car... People talked to him about it but the dog is still in the car! Its pretty hot and sunny outside in Connecticut right now and my boss doesnt want me to say anything because then the offender/animal abuser will think it was her. I'm really pissed off right now!!!!! what should I do? what would you do? People already went up to the window and the dog is lethargic, and its a puppy!! It would only barely lift up its head!

I confronted the guy, and asked him if the puppy was in the car. He got really defensive (ppl mentioned it to him earlier) and said "GO CHECK YOURSELF" he is too rediculous to talk to. Then I called animal controll and they said "well its not too bad outside blah blah" so now I'm completely confused. I hate everyone here. Everytime someone brings a dog everyone screams and coo's and "Oh what a CUTE dog!" but when one is in a car in danger everyone is too afraid or paraniod to do anything. Well animal controll sucks and so does everyone here.

It is animal cruelty that is actually a crime and you could get jail time and prison time depending on how bad the crime is. If the windows are not cracked it is illegal (animal cruelty) but if they are cracked it is fine, as long as the animal(s) can get fresh air. It is sad but he is not doing anything wrong, I would say something to him like why not leave him at home he doesn't need to be at work where he can't play. That pisses me off too. People like that don't need animals. Well you are in a different state then me,I live in Wyoming so rules might be different there, You might be able to do something. Personally I would call and find out what you could do. Also if you do turn him in say this is an annonomous call and you just that you walk by this vehicle everyday and there is a puppy in it everyday all day from the time you go to work til the time you go home, and that way anyone who seen it could have called. That way it saves your butt too. I would AT LEAST CALL!

Call the police! If the dog is lethargic then it's not getting what it needs. There is animal abuse involved here. Dogs should not be left in the car on hot or cold days. Yes, he was smart to be parked in the shade, with windows cracked, and water in the car... but if it's till hot and he's not checking on the dog on a regular timely basis and the puppy is not doing well... it's time to call the police.

It's certainly illegal where I come from (England). If you see a dog left in a car you can actually call the RSPCA or even the police and they will come and break the car window to get the dog out, it's great.
These guy is a bastard. If talking to him hasn't worked then he's obviously thick, and you can quote me. Cars are like greenhouses, having the windows open a bit won't make any difference. Perhaps shoving him in a car for the day with 'the windows open a crack and some water' he might get a clue.

Some cities have a law that allows a police officer to break a car window if a pet is in it during a hot day and the owner can't be found. You have to check your local law. However, the law is different than what is morally right. You can't allow a dog to die in a hot car! I would call the animal control or police department. The puppy will die otherwise.

Call the local humane society, animal sanctuary or animal control officer. If you feel better about it, do it when you are not at work.
Your boss shouldn't care if the offender thinks it is her or not! This puppy WILL DIE if this idiot continues to leave it in a hot car. The fact that it is lethargic is a really bad sign. If your boss cares so much about not having this idiot know it was her who ratted, then she should offer to let him bring the puppy in to work!
Please, do something. This is a very dangerous situation for the poor puppy.

That can be considered animal cruelty. Get that dog out of there if you can. Confront the owner. Call the SPCA right now.
Don't let the puppy die.
Temperatures in cars can exceed 100 in minutes whether you are in the shade and have your windows cracked or not! That is just pathetic!
Jeez... how can people like this dog owner be so damn ignorant!

I are living in South Africa and now we have summer now. We now have had already three incidents final weekend by myself where parents have left their small children within the automobile on a sizzling summers day. When I imply younger below a 12 months! Now our freshest day we've had is between forty and 45 degrees celcius! When it hits forty degrees celcius no baby at college or grownup at work is alowed to do any form of work in any respect. The one story i also heard was a youngster was caught in a vehicle, the window was barely open and there was a bottle of milk in the heat of the summer time's day. Humans saw this and called a safety gaurd and he smacked the window open to retrieve the child. When the dad and mom came again bystander's were ready for the mom and dad (that have been playing at the time) to come back back to the auto and a person hit the father to the bottom. Additionally in a seperate case a father left his little one in his car and surely forgot in regards to the baby in the vehicle, when bystanders determined the youngster, it was once too late and the terrible child died! I individually would have bashed the window and long gone to safety with the little one!

I am sorry but, f*** you boss! Call animal services! That is animal abuse and that poor puppy could have a heat stroke and die! That is so sad that your boss would sit back and let a poor little puppy be miserable and possibly even die just because she doesnt want the animal abuser to think that she reported him! Wow! Some people make me sooo mad! PLEASE call someone! Animal services, the police, a shelter! Anyone! Dont just sit there and let that poor pup possibly die!!!!! : ( All it takes is 20 mins for a dog to die from being in the heat! PLEASE CALL SOMEONE!.. Or I will, tell me where you are at and I will call 411 and get a number for the police or animal services! Then that a** h*** animal abuser cant get mad at you or you boss!

In California it is a crime to leave a dog in the car. Your friend is not taking good care of his dog. Maybe you should put him in the car all day with a little water and see how he like this treatment!
I think you should call Animal Control. This person is not a person that should have a dog. Do the right thing and you know it is the right thing when your heart tell you so.

Call the police immediately. It is against the law, not to mention animal cruelty to leave a dog in a parked car.
Cracked windows and in the shade can still allow the temperature in the car to reach brain damaging temperatures.
Call someone now! If you don't and something happens you will feel responsible. Who gives a crap if the person is mad at you? Screw your boss, call the police now.
