I'm also 20 with the exact same problem and I haven't kicked the habbit, but I'm just about there. My method is to paint my thumb nail whenever I feel like sucking my thumb with a layer of clear nail polish, the kind that reaks and you just can't stand. The taste is horrible, usually lasts all night, and can't be seen if you don't want nail polish on. It is something a therapist was try8ing to get me to do when my parents tried to get me to kick the habbit when I was 7.

This can be a very serious behavior to break. You should see counseling and perhaps try aversion therapy (coating your thumb with bitter apple spray, etc.). Another possibility is to wear gloves, etc. especially at night and during quiet times to discourage the activity. You may require medical therapies as well. You are not alone - I have seen thumb sucking in adults before - it is a challenge, but not impossible. Therapy is the mainstay - build a program and a plan with your therapist.

I know a 24 year old girl who still sucks her thumb. Then I saw her 27 year old husband too , sucking his thumb. Please stop, Its a really bad and embarrassing habit . I was embarrassed of them. I know that sounds mean, but these people had 2 kids and I just couldn't look the other way . I just didn't want to be friends with her no more !

Find another habit. Im 28 and still did it for a LONG TIME.
Start with using your thumb with something else. I touch cotton and rub my thumb over it

Keep it soaked in finger nail polish remover for a while. You won't want to suck that thumb afterwards.

PS) That's unattractive!
