The Atheist divorce rate is 21%...the Christian divorce rate is 34%, but of course you knew that. You asked this question to prove a point. We have never claimed to be perfect...also...it is important to note that 84% of the US claim to be Christian...and only 1% of the US claim to be Atheist...so based on the fact the Christian population is much higher than the Atheist population...naturally we will have more divorces...so given the fact that there is only 1% of people who claim to be Atheist and 21% of them are getting divorced...I'd say that doesn't look so good either.

People who choose to put their own interests above that of their spouses are those who get divorced. No matter what you claim to be, whether christian or atheist, if you cannot love your spouse more then you love yourself your marriage will most likely fail. In this world that puts self love above loving others, that is a huge challenge.

Since there are many, many many more Christians(or people with that label) than Atheists, there will be more Christians involved in divorce. However, if one looks at the numbers proportionally........

I don't think religion plays a big part in divorce rates anymore. It is way too easy to get married and too easy to get a divorce! But just playing the numbers game I would say Christians.

Unfortunately it is pretty even. Too many Christians ignore that part in the Bible where it says that God hates divorce. All too often we'd rather point out the speck in someone else's eye and ignore the log in our own. Christians have fallen from God's standard and taken the world's philosophy of marriage.

Statistically, Christians. They tend to marry earlier, which tends to result in a higher divorce rate. The highest divorce rate in the US is in the geographic south (up to 52%), which identifies as more than 92% Christian. The lowest (up to 28%) is on the northern coastal areas, and identifies as only 62% Christian.

It has been shown that as well as accounting for almost zero percent of the prison population, Atheists also have one of the lowest divorce rates.
