(whatever you want to call it) religion is one of the oldest in this world? From my studies and from my hearings and spending of countless hours on the internet, and asking wiccans and paganists and druids themselves, they say that this religion is one of the oldest in time. Can anyone tell me some details about this or what they think and believe about this religion? (please, no bashing or flaming this, I like positive feeds from my questions, not you hardcore christians telling me that i'm a fag and im wrong and gays are wrong, because it has nothing to do with the question)

..................... I'm not talking about the "Modern Version of Wicca, the version that the English man wrote a book about and introduced"
I'm talking about the religion before it, the one less modified, the "Old Testiment" I mean, back then when there were druids and Celtics, back older before Jesus was 'round. (and by old testiment I meant non-modified, seeing that there is no "book" or written form of paganism, besides the rede)

I'm a pagan Taoist. I celebrate pagan holidays and find meaning in pagan symbols. I do think it is very, very old, but that many of the details have been lost to time and violence. We may never know exactly how old.
One of the reasons I enjoy it so much is that it makes a good deal of sense to me. Who that has spent time in nature can deny that it's awe-inspiring and majestic?
I also really like the holidays. It makes a very deep kind of psychological sense to celebrate holidays throughout the year by celebrating the corresponding phase of the life cycle. It reinforces cyclical thinking and has a sublime harmony to it.
I don't really worship pagan deities, because I see them as symbols and not actually real, but even still, the archetypes they represent are very powerful.
And the symbols that are used in celebrations and in spells also make a lot sense to me. The emphasis is on invoking an energy you want to make use of, but also to keep energy balanced and controlled and focused.

Paganism, as a category, is the oldest, since it *technically* includes neolithic proto-religions. That said, nobody knows anything about them any more, so that's a somewhat moot point.
The modern Pagan religions that are practiced today are, well, modern. Wicca is a little older than half a century (though some folks stretch it towards a century, if you count some "proto-Wicca" things), and Druidry only runs back to about the 18th century or so.
There's little to no evidence of unbroken lines of complete religious traditions. There's certainly some survivals - folklore practices, family traditions, myths and stories - but these things are only pieces, and not a whole religion. For the folks who want to practice ancient beliefs, there's still a lot of reconstruction going on. For folks who are interested in following their hearts and simply being inspired by past beliefs, they're good to go right now, and don't need to worry about how long their religion's been around.

Greetings!
It is not a belief, it`s a fact-even though "Wicca" in it`s modern form is a recent invention.
Now, there is the question of "Pagan". You will find that the Romans called Folks that did not participate in the "Big City" form of Worship (Temples, Tithes, Taxes) "Paganii" which simply meant people outside the Cities.
The Romans of today, and of the last 1500 years, call EVERYONE outside of their Church "Pagan", including the Romans who used to call others Pagan! So "Pagan" can mean any Ancient Religious System.
Druidry has been around 4000 years or more, and is oriented around the "Indo-European" Culture, and, while not being a "Religion" in itself, it does include Religious aspects and belifes including Training as Priest/ess.
Good luck with your search.
/!\

it type of feels to me that the God a guy or woman believes in says lots greater with regards to the guy than it does approximately God. some human beings seem to have faith in a cranky, vengeful, petulant God. Others have faith in a huge parent interior the Sky God. some deny that there is any God in any respect. some say God is Love. No, i do no longer think of believing in a God demands that this is a good God, regardless of the reality that many human beings insist that all and sundry which is nice is God, and that all and sundry which is evil is a devil or a devil. i think of if one specifies that the God is a writer, then sure, it follows that each and every thing may well be the creation of the writer. i like dreaming's answer. i think of of "God" as "That it relatively is." i'm basically a tiny drop interior the great Ocean. i do no longer declare to comprehend the form of the coastline :-))

I've been Wiccan for over twenty years, which is about 1/3 of the time Wicca has existed.
