Jesus did not promote war and the apostles were not involved in politics or warfare. Christians should not take up arms against anyone, but should remain peaceable with all people.
"Remind them to be subject to rulers and authorities, to obey, to be ready for every good work, to speak evil of no one, to be peaceable, gentle, showing all humility to all men." Titus 3:2
If the rulers of any nation demand that we place ourselves in the position to take another's life, how should we respond?
The same way the apostles did at Acts 5:29--"But Peter and the other apostles answered and said: “We ought to obey God rather than men."
Instead of condoning war, what did Jesus tell us at Matthew 5:44-45? --"But I tell you: Love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous."
Christians therefore remain neutral when it comes to waging war against anyone. We must love our enemies as Jesus commanded, not fight against them.

You do realize that not all soldiers are Christians, don't you?
Despite that, I will pray for the soldiers themselves, that the U.S. will never again sacrifice them on the altar of realpolitik. We're not totally responsible for the mess in Iraq, but we didn't exactly improve the the situation there when Reagan and Bush I kept sending chemical and biological weapons to Hussein long after it was well-known that he had used such weapons against the Kurds and the Iranians. Why? Out of self-interest and nothing more.

My brother was in Iraq, thankfully, he came home safely. I too will pray to my Gods for the safety of those still fighting, even though I don't necessarily support this war. Bright Blessings.

I am glad that patriotism is not dead. I am atheist,2 tours of duty in Nam,and patriotic as I can be. Prayers won't hurt.though I don't believe in it.I cannot disrespect such patriotism, regardless of your belief. American patriot,father,grandfather,2 brothers,1 sister,2 brother in laws, all served in the service, with one of my brothers dying in combat. patriotism isn't "cool" with the snot nosed spoiled set, glad it isn't gone from everyone

Our "soldiers" should not be put in the situation they are currently in. I'll save my prayers for peace and I wouldn't forget the innocent Iraqi citizens our government has slaughtered.
May they one day have freedom FROM our "liberties".

What a disgraceful travesty considering what the US has done in Iraq. America really is the most dangerous country on the planet.
