You know the little yellow rectangle that appears when you get new email, that sits in the system tray?

Is there a way to make it only come on when you have real mail? I get so much junk email that I always am thinking I got mail, when in fact it is worthless.

Well the assumption the software is making is that it's estimation of junkmail is inherently flawed because only you can truly decide if it is something you want to read. Therefore the notification goes off for all kinds of mail. I am not aware of a way to configure it any other way. Sorry.

Even "Junk" mail is "mail". Outlook is only working with a filter to determine weather mail is junk or not, so it doesn't throw the mail away, it saves it and notifies you that there is mail. Weather it should be discarded or not is still left up to you.
