im running on average 4- 4.5meg line speed ( so bt have told me) check out the results

thought i had better add that im on broadband bt home hub wireless connection. if any of this makes any difference.
if anyone can give me any tips on speeding things up that would be great!!

i guess it depends on what service you currently have, cable, dsl or dial up. to me that seems real slow. i ran the same test on that site and my results are listed here. i have comcast cable for internet and its the fastest connection i have ever had.

It is hard to tell what you should be at, there are so many variables to fit in to the equation. Your speed will be based on the area you are in, the time of day (rather everyone is on etc.). Check your speed a couple time through out the day to see when your best speeds are. The best times to check the full speed is at night when most are sleeping. Your bandwidth is based on your neighborhood.
Also what location to what location did you run the test????

I have 390 kbps

But i have 4 PC's on my router which may slow it down a lot..

I have BT 20x speed Maximum for BT

About right for that speed. I have a 24Mbps line, telephone line can only carry 16Mbps and in real life speedtest I get around 13-14Mbps

a 1meg connection transfers at an average of a 100 kbs per sec a 2meg at 200kbs per sec and so forth so it sounds spot on
