Hi all 27 y.o. female here looking to find out what others are doing out there for diet, exercise, and supplements for m.s. I am in need of shedding some pounds in effort to make myself feel better! And to meet more wonderful people along this M.S. journey would also be nice!

As for exercise I would ask your doc to prescribe PT to assess what you need to be working on. The PT is trained and will help you not overdo it!

I don't know what meds you are on, but some will cause weight gain. I would ask the doc to assess how much, if any, you really need to lose!

Look at both NationalMS society and MS Foundation!!! They are GREAT resources!!!

For some people, exercise causes MS to flare up, so suitable exercise varies from person-to-person. A good rule to follow is to slowly build up your exercise to find when or if it causes problems, and then come up with a long-term plan based on your tolerance. Try to pick some type of exercise you enjoy (or at least hate the least). Walking or bike riding are good outdoor activities when the weather is nice. For indoor activities, swimming, stationary bike, treadmill, aerobics class, and dancing, are all good choices.

People swear by all sorts of supplements, but there is no logical or scientific reason why most supplements would make a difference. Only glucosamine supplements have been shown to actually help.

The MS Society is a great place to meet others with MS - they have local chapters in many locations.
