So what you are saying is that atheism is a religion...and what you stated is and has been for a long time.
You just have a total lack of understanding is what you are admitting to....I think you need to re-evaluate your stance.

I'm with you all the way kid. But I think you would have lots of problems with religious zealots trying to close you down.
Practitioners of ancient religious beliefs, Believers in Omnipotent creatures (Up There) looking down here with Humanities interest at heart. People who ignore the evidence of science, the obvious processes of evolution, not to mention an abounding mass off geological evidence pointing to the age of the earth. As well as an examination of the nearby Galactic recession and the study of old stars in determining the very age of the Universe itself. Or maybe they just don't like the taste of good beer and the look of a good action movie.

The great thing about atheism is... the entire world is our church. Everyone and everything is a member, except for a few humans who cling to a religion that has imprisoned their mind.
Every thing we do, and say, and experience, is a part of the church of atheism. It is life, rational and wonderful at the same time.
Amen.

Here is the definition of church
. a building for public Christian worship.
2. public worship of God or a religious service in such a building: to attend church regularly.
3. (sometimes initial capital letter) the whole body of Christian believers; Christendom.
4. (sometimes initial capital letter) any division of this body professing the same creed and acknowledging the same ecclesiastical authority; a Christian denomination: the Methodist Church.
5. that part of the whole Christian body, or of a particular denomination, belonging to the same city, country, nation, etc.
6. a body of Christians worshipping in a particular building or constituting one congregation: She is a member of this church.
7. ecclesiastical organization, power, and affairs, as distinguished from the state: separation of church and state; The missionary went wherever the church sent him.
8. the clergy and religious officials of a Christian denomination.
9. the Christian faith: a return of intellectuals to the church.
10. (initial capital letter) the Christian Church before the Reformation.
11. (initial capital letter) the Roman Catholic Church.
12. the clerical profession or calling: After much study and contemplation, he was prepared to enter the church.
13. a place of public worship of a non-Christian religion.
14. any non-Christian religious society, organization, or congregation: the Jewish church.
–verb (used with object) 15. to conduct or bring to church, esp. for special services.
16. South Midland and Southern U.S. to subject to church discipline.
17. to perform a church service of thanksgiving for (a woman after childbirth).
Therefore it would be impossible to have an atheist church, as you would not be worshiping anyone or anything.

I'm not inclined to join churches of any description. What generally happens is that someone appoints himself the "leader" and starts deciding what people should believe.

We have several of those groups in our town. They go by names like: The Kiwanis Club, The Lions Club, The United Way, etc. I think it's a good idea, unless, of course, it's redundant.

Where do I sign up. We won't beg for money like the others will we? We will pay taxes right? Oh, and our leaders won't molest children correct?
