I found a necklace in my jelery box that one of my ex-boyfriends gave me years ago. Its a heart shaped diamond. It looks real, but i'm not sure. Does anyone know how to tell the difference between a real and fake diamond? I'm excited I hope its real! lol

Cubic Zirconia tends to sparkle more brightly and colorfuly than a diamond does. If it has too much sparkle compared with a diamond, then it is probably fake. You could just go to any jeweler and they would be able to tell your right away.

Why do you care? What's the difference between a real diamond and something that just looks like a real diamond? Would a diamond's worth be a comfort object for you? If so, look at WHY it would be such...

If you just want to know so you can sell it, cool.

scratch it on some glass...if it leavers a mark then it should be real. If not just take it too a jeweler and they will tell you.
