Blind Spot Driving

2016-11-11 03:37:21 · answer #2 · answered by ? 4 · 0 0

Blind spots, in the context of driving an automobile, are the areas of the road that cannot be seen while looking forward or through either the rear-view or side mirrors. Blind spots can be eliminated by overlapping side and rear-view mirrors, or checked by turning one's head briefly, or by adding another mirror with a larger field of view. Detection of vehicles or other objects in blind spots may also be aided by systems such as video cameras or distance sensors, though these are not common in automobiles sold to the general public.

It's a spot around your vehicle, usually on the passenger side, where your mirrors can't see. On a pickup, if a car is hanging on the passenger side, beside the bed and just behind the front door, it's essentially in the blind spot and the truck driver can't see them unless they actually turn around and look. On my classic Trans Am, it was a little further back than that.

"blind spot" refers to the areas around a vehicle, usually large trucks, that cannot be seen by the driver. proper mirror positions can reduce the size and effect of blind spots, but not totally eliminate them. if you are in someone's blind spot, they won't be able to see you and may swerve or change lanes into you accidentally.
