Well, I'm by no means perfect. I'm a sinner. However, I'm a sinner saved by the grace of God and like every other Christian, He is working to reconstruct my heart and mold it into the image of Christ.
I was born and raised Episcopalian. While I prayed and grew up learning about Jesus, I was very lukewarm. It wasn't until I met my wife four years ago that I began learning what it meant to BE a Christian. To KNOW Christ. Prior to meeting her, I rarely opened a Bible.
She has always been a better Christian than myself. She has taught me more about God and the Bible than I've ever known before. I've been very blessed, but I don't deserve any of it.
We have a two year old daughter with another baby on the way and attend a non-denominational church. As for WHY I'm a Christian, I'd have to say it's because I've seen God working in my life and the lives of others around me. I've witnessed the blessings and seen the miracles.
The reason I worship God is because through Jesus Christ, He has redeemed me of my sins and in His eyes, I've become pure and holy. My worship is an act of gratefulness for all He is, all He has done, and all He is doing.

I did Not Choose to become A Christian..........The Holy Spirit Convicted me that I was A Sinner, And Jesus Wanted To Save Me From My Sins And Hell! "He Pardoned All My Sins, and Set Me Free." I Have Never Been The Same, Since That Day. He Changed "MY WANTS & Desires" And Created In Me A New Heart. I Can Not and Will Not LIVE WITHOUT HIM! He Is Real, Real In My Soul!

I am a Christian but I don't believe that mortal people can be "saved." You are saved at death, not before. That is the salvation that waits for us, hopefully. I have many Christian friends that tell me they know they are going to heaven. They know no such thing.
Simply saying that you are saved does not make it so. But I am happy that you have a wonderful life and I hope it continues for you, I am sure it will.
God Bless

God would not leave me alone. I am single, and if a woman my age were to pay a small fraction of the attention to me that He did...well let's just say that problem would be remedied as well.
There were no Christians in my family and none of my friends expressed any faith. It was reading the Bible that started my journey to the truth of God's love. Taking that first step was the most difficult thing I have ever done in my life, not because of disbelief but because of my own fear of exposure to those around me.
.....and I have lived happily ever after.
There is a hole in the heart and soul of every man that only God can fill.

Since you have a good goal, I want to encourage it. To become a Christian means more than just making a decision based on an emotion. This we see in Jesus' words in one of his last prayers. (John 17:3) 3 This means everlasting life, their taking in knowledge of you, the only true God, and of the one whom you sent forth, Jesus Christ. So it is a matter of knowledge and understanding that must be provided to a person to make life changing decisions. That is why on his last words to his apostles he said this. (Matthew 28:19-20) 19 Go therefore and make disciples of people of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the holy spirit, 20 teaching them to observe all the things I have commanded YOU. And, look! I am with YOU all the days until the conclusion of the system of things.” I would encourage you to study the Bible and find a solid basis for having faith in the promises of God that are being accomplished through his Son, Jesus Christ. Please examine the link below for a series of articles on what the Bible teaches and how you can have a complete faith in those promises of God.

I was raised in church with christian morals and values and sometimes I have turned my back on them and rebelled. But all the years I have spent in church has taught me when I sin, get down on my knees and ask for forgiveness. All my wisdom, guidance and morals and values from church has always made me understand that turning my back is not the answer. I thank my lucky beautiful stars in the Heaven's every night for my family and for God's eternal Love and thankful he is a forgiving God.
God bless you and I hope this answer isn't too long to read.
My basic point is my parents and my preacher instilled great Christian values and morals into me and I plan on keeping them and passing them to my son.

I agree with Primoa that God chose me. I was raised Christian but never fully embraced it. I believed, knew all the right things to say, was a good kid, but I never experienced the personal God.
When I was 19, the bottom fell out of my life, all my friends moved away and I was left all alone. About that same time I found myself attracted to girls. I wanted to kill myself, the depression was so deep, I was drowning.
Then a new friend was dropped into my life and she held my head above water and gave me hope. She began to swim for me, moving me toward Christ. Over the next few years, she got me to a place where I was able to begin swimming for myself through discipleship. When I was 25 I think I really met Jesus for the first time. He brought me freedom from homosexuality within 2 years. He revolutionized my life and set my feet on solid ground. He gave me a new identity in Him and gave my life purpose.
I choose to continue to follow Jesus because He loved me enough to set me free. He didn't hate me for my sin, He loved me enough to send someone to help me get free of it. I love Him because He first loved me. :)

I am a former Christian and became one because of a deep desire and need to know and worship my creator. I no longer feel this way for many reasons but my life now is free from guilt ... full of love, laughter and peace :-)

God chose me! And I am eternally greatful! I did not deserve His great salvation, but He chose me! And I am forever in awe of my wonderful God! I cannot wait to cast my crown at HIS feet, for He is the one who deserves all the glory!
"Faith comes from hearing, and by hearing the word of God" Romans 10:17---once I heard it, it clicked, God softened my heart, and opened my eyes, it was ALL Him!
Praise be to Him!
Jesus says to those who are born again:
John 15:16
You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you that you should go and bear fruit and that your fruit should abide, so that whatever you ask the Father in my name, he may give it to you.
