My husband will be going to DLI for over a year, (we will be with him there) then to AIT for 22 weeks. We have been told it is possible for us to go with him, how do we arrange this? I have heard that if he is going to be somewhere for six months or more that we will move with him, since this is so close can we request it?

Also, can I move myself there and have him live with us even if the Air Force is not doing the actual move?

** We have been told that it will be less restrictive than usual, since he will already have been enlisted for, probably, two years...**

Chances are, no they will not allow you to join your husband at his Tech School.

The Air Force has a program that severely limits Airmen attending Tech School.

IE:

First 28 days, cannot leave base, must wear uniforms at all times, have a curfew, cannot drive a car.

Day 29 thry 44: Must wear uniform at all times, may not drive a car to school or during duty hours,

NOTE: If family members are approved at duty station, airmen may be allowed to live with them starting in second phase.

The usual cut off for family members to be authorized to move, is 26 weeks.

You can move where ever you want to move.

But just remember, the Air Force does not have to let your husband move off base with you.

And in any case, for the first month, he difinately will not be allowed off base. And after that, he would have to have the commanders approval to move off base after meeting certain guidelines.

he has to request it once he arrives at his follow on school after DLI. If you move yourself, they will have the option to deny reimbursing you. he may not necessarily get permission to live ouff base if he is on Unacompanied Orders and in school.

Best bet ios to wait untilhe reprts to AIT and see what his options are. worse case scenario, the move would be out of pocket and he could only see you on weekends.
