Every time I drink alcohol at night, I wake up the next morning covered in bruises. At first I just shrugged it off and figured I must have bumped into something multiple times at multiple places on my body, but then I realized that's not the case. I can just be sitting on a couch not doing anything and I literally wake up with bruises everywhere! Anyone know what could be the cause of this? I am anemic, does that have any relevance?

I'm 22. And I've constantly had bruises. I can't remember the last time I didn't have at LEAST 3 on each leg since I was a kid. The morning after drinking (Which is done in complete moderation, by the way. I'm talking like a glass of wine or two) there's around 8-9 on each leg, arm, etc.

I just had a quick skim and managed to come up with several answers to your bruising...although i don't have anemia and wake up with several bruises anyway, depends how much you drink sometimes though...

OK... this is a tricky one... Here are some points to look out for...

1. Bruising means there is some sort of blood leak in the muscle or skin.

2. Alcohol causes vasodilation, plus ABUSE of alcohol (usually chronic alcoholics) have a messed up coagulation (clotting) system.

I dunno how old are you or how much and for how long have you been drinking... the profile you discribe unfortunately points towards a coagulation dissorder- yes we all bruise and some more easily than others, BUT noone normally bruises by sitting down. The confusing fact here is that a problematic coagulation is present at all times, not only when alcohol is cosumed... Are you sure you don't always bruise? Are you sure you aren't always drinking?

I understand these are all very personal matters, so in the end my advice is this- CHECK IMMEDIATELLY with your doc...

It sounds like a coagulation disorder (and if you check my other answers you'll see that I hardly ever deliver bad news, I am usually extreamly modest...). This could be due to alcohol abuse, or some sort of alergic reaction to alcohol. Take care and GO SEE YOUR DOC TODAY...

Remember that what happens on your skin may very easily be happenng to your brain or inner organs. So, don't let this one pass...

I would think the Doctor would be the best source to answer this. I am pretty sure that your anemia would be a serious cause.

Take a high potency multiple vitamin morning and night to get in better shape.
