Tomatoes and Cheap Labor
This should make everyone think, be you Democrat, Republican or Independent
From a California school teacher - - -"As you listen to the news about the student protests over illegal immigration, there are some things that you should be aware of:
I am in charge of the English-as-a-second-language department at a large southern California high school which is designated a Title 1 school, meaning that its students average lower socioeconomic and income levels.
Most of the schools you are hearing about, South Gate High, Bell Gardens , Huntington Park , etc., where these students are protesting, are also Title 1 schools.
Title 1 schools are on the free breakfast and free lunch program. When I say free breakfast, I'm not talking a glass of milk and roll -- but a full breakfast and cereal bar with fruits and juices that would make a Marriott proud. The waste of this food is monumental, with trays and trays of it being dumped in the trash uneaten. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)
I estimate that well over 50% of these students are obese or at least moderately overweight. About 75% or more DO have cell phones. The school also provides day care centers for the unwed teenage pregnant girls (some as young as 13) so they can attend class without the inconvenience of having to arrange for babysitters or having family watch their kids. (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)
I was ordered to spend $700,000 on my department or risk losing funding for the upcoming year even though there was little need for anything; my budget was already substantial. I ended up buying new computers for the computer learning center, half of which, one month later, have been carved with graffiti by the appreciative students who obviously feel humbled and grateful to have a free education in America . (OUR TAX DOLLARS AT WORK)
I have had to intervene several times for young and substitute teachers whose classes consist of many illegal immigrant students here in the country less then 3 months who raised so much hell with the female teachers, calling them "Putas" whores and throwing things that the teachers were in tears.
Free medical, free education, free food, day care etc., etc., etc. Is it any wonder they feel entitled to not only be in this country but to demand rights, privileges and entitlements?
To those who want to point out how much these illegal immigrants contribute to our society because they LIKE their gardener and housekeeper and they like to pay less for tomatoes: spend some time in the real world of illegal immigration and see the TRUE costs.
Higher insurance, medical facilities closing, higher medical costs, more crime, lower standards of education in our schools, overcrowding, new diseases etc., etc, etc. For me, I'll pay more for tomatoes.
We need to wake up. The guest worker program will be a disaster because we won't have the guts to enforce it.
Does anyone in their right mind really think they will voluntarily leave and return?
There are many hardworking Hispanic/American citizens that contribute to our country and many that I consider my true friends. We should encourage and accept those Hispanics who have done it the right and legal way.
It does, however, have everything to do with culture: A third-world culture that does not value education, that accepts children getting pregnant and dropping out of school by 15 and that refuses to assimilate, and an American culture that has become so weak and worried about "politically correct" that we don't have the will to do anything about it.
If this makes your blood boil, as it did mine, forward this to everyone you know.
CHEAP LABOR?
Isn't that what the whole immigration issue is about?
Business doesn't want to pay a decent wage.
Consumers don't want expensive produce.
Government will tell you Americans don't want the jobs.
But the bottom line is cheap labor. The phrase "cheap labor" is a myth, a farce, and a lie. there is no such thing as "cheap labor."
Take, for example, an illegal alien with a wife and five children. He takes a job for $5.00 or $6.00/hour. At that wage, with six dependents, he pays no income tax, yet at the end of the year, if he files an Income Tax Return, he gets an "earned income credit" of up to $3,200 free.
He qualifies for Section 8 housing and subsidized rent.
He qualifies for food stamps.
He qualifies for free (no deductible, no co-pay) health care.
His children get free breakfasts and lunches at school.
He requires bilingual teachers and books.
He qualifies for relief from high energy bills.
If they are or become, aged, blind or disabled, they qualify for SSI. Once qualified for SSI they can qualify for Medicare. All of this is at (our) taxpayer's expense.
He doesn't worry about car insurance, life insurance, or homeowners insurance.
Taxpayers provide Spanish language signs, bulletins and printed material.
He and his family receive the equivalent of $20.00 to $30.00/hour in benefits.
Working Americans are lucky to have $5.00 or $6.00/hour left after paying their bills and his.
The American taxpayers also pay for increased crime, graffiti and trash clean-up.
Cheap labor? YEAH RIGHT! Wake up people. THESE ARE THE QUESTIONS WE SHOULD BE ADDRESSING TO THE PRESIDENTIAL CANDIDATES FOR EITHER PARTY. 'AND WHEN THEY LIE TO US AND DON'T DO AS THEY SAY, WE SHOULD REPLACE THEM AT ONCE!'
THIS HAS GOT TO BE PASSED ALONG TO AS MANY AS POSSIBLE OR WE WILL ALL GO DOWN THE DRAIN BECAUSE A FEW DON'T CARE.

What do you mean by "you people?"
We have the right to defend our borders. That means that we are allowed to put up a fence and make sure that the people that come here are legal. If you have noticed that "you people" want the people here to be register. More people have been killed in the last year by illegal aliens then in Iraq. Think about that. Where is the out cry for those people.
I am also tired of the statement, "we are all immigrants." With that thinking everyone in the world is an immigrant. Which means that no one in the world can tell anyone where to live.

Because I'm an American citizen.. that gives me the right.. and I don't want people that disrespect me and my fellow citizens in this country, I do not want people that do not hold my country with respect it deserves- Also Illegal immigrants violated my, my family, my friends, and my fellow citizens security and safety by sneaking into my country and trying to live here undetected. It was morally wrong, it was a crime, and it needs to be dealt with as such
It amazes me on a constant basis here when people say things like "we are all illegal (at one time), or why don't we all go back to the country our ancestors came from- is our history that lost, is our education system really not educating our kids... how do people not know the history of the Pilgrims and the Indians.. I've seen people on here that think we are all decents from Christopher Columbus, I've heard people on here talk about the Pilgrims giving blankets to the Indians with the small pox virus on them.. that was Christopher Columbus..... Do you think people in Australia consider themselves illegal (their ancestors were criminals, the aboriginees were there first, do you think England just started there...Everyone did not just spontasiously appear on these land masses, continents, countries...we are not the only country that fought for land, we are not the only country that did bad things, we are not the only country that had slavery.... get over it.. it was a long time ago and we have a Wonderful country today because of all of it...

First of the word ILLEGAL. I have nothing against people from other counries coming and living here. But they should follow the rules and laws. Also alot of places are getting crouded and overrun with illegal Mexican Immagrants. Having to pay for healthcare for these people who don't even put money into the Social Security or pay taxes, when I can't even afford healthcare for myself is not right. Plus there are so many people who spend time and money to come here legaly. It's unfair to them.
I do believe out laws to become a legal resident are a little strict. I think instead of spending the money to make illegal immigarants legal they should look at the laws and revise them.

You all being in OUR country is what gives us the right to tell you what to do. Unlike Mexico, we fight for our country, we dont go around sneaking into others countries and trying to run sh**! You are ILLEGAL, you have no real rights(besides being treated like a human being, but you have no financial or government rights, or right to complain, because you dont and cant even freakin voteover here, )you have rights in the country that you snuck away from. We vote therefore that gives us the right to bit** and complain, eve nif it does fall on deaf ears.We as a people are tired of you illegally entering and then demanding sh** and expecting us to cater to you. I work to damned hard to get where I am for you folks to expect me to hand it over to you.Pay your dues and become legal. We pay ours every time we get a paycheck , or buy anything, or pay the iRS at the end of the year .You all whine about every thing, but if you were still in your country you would be much worse off. Show some appreciation instead of feeling some ENTITLEMENT .How can one come from sh** and still complain?? Its better than what you had.If you dont like us " telling you what to do" thenget the f*** out!!!

what many people do not understand is that no one seems to be opposing LEGAL immigration, they oppose ILLEGAL immigration. JUST obey the laws of the land and learn the language

I suppose that since MORE foreign citizens may be allowed into the U.S.A, everybody (white people) fear that they will take over several jobs...what do I care...I'm a black man that has dealt with discrimination on jobs...hell, life in general...I fought to overcome the odds, now I own a business, I'm financially stable, and my child's future is secure...It's great to see white American "frightened by what may be" for a change...
I would love to see everyone achieve the American dream...unfortunately there are several (not all) white people that don't feel the same regarding other races...those are the ones who REALLY oppose the comprehensive reform...
Learn to look past the B.S...no matter who you are , no matter what race, achieve your dreams...

We have the right to oppose illegals because they are first of all here illegally, but they are also putting our country in more debt, closing our hospitals, spreading diseases, filling up our jails, not paying taxes, hurting our schools because they don't know english... the list just goes on.
And we have the write to say that because it is fact.

Intelligent, forward thinking, well informed Americans, are opposed to ILLEGAL immigration because it is ILLEGAL!!! We don't know who is comming across our borders, what diseases they have, whether or not they intend to do us harm, etc. etc. How would you like it if a total stranger who didn't speak or read your language moved into your house and ate from your fridge, and if they get sick or hurt or pregnant you have to take care of them and provide them an education. I bet if you were honest you'd say that you wouldn't like that at all. WELL, NEITHER DO WE!!!

The same thing that gives every other country in the world the right to do the same thing.
Name ONE COUNTRY that does not deport illegal aliens.
Mexico is more strict than the USA.
It is not "us people" telling you what to do...this is a forum...
Our LAWS are what tell you if you can come to our country...and what you are allowed to do here if you are ALLOWED here.
