I'm pretty sure that's what is going on. 5 years ago his bladder ruptured and was in the hospital for 2 weeks, said he had a mass in his urethia, unoperable, if they did, he would have to wear diapers, no way a cat. Anyway, lately, he has spells and can't pee for a few days, screames trying, then he starts peeing. A week later we go thru it again. Don't say, PUT HIM DOWN, he's my life, I won't do it. I'm pretty sure it's stones. Is there something I can give him daily to desolve these things? Seems to me he keeps makeing them. I sure hope someone knows, THANKS, it's killing both of us.

Take him to another vet NOW, preferably a feline specialist. A specialist may be able to help when a regular vet couldn't. If it's stones, it should be treatable, either through surgery or medication and a special diet, or a combination of both.

If even a specialist can't help your cat and tells you that your cat can't be treated, please don't allow him to continue to suffer. Please do everything you can to help him, and get a second opinion, but if qualified vets tell you that he can't be helped, it's selfish to allow him to suffer because you don't want to let go. Euthanasia is painless for the cat, and if it's truly necessary, it can be your last gift to your dear one - peace and freedom from suffering.

Take the cat to a vet. They can't put him down without your permission, but they CAN provide you with things to make the cat more comfortable - like painkillers for starters. There are many drugs available to assist bladder problems, there is also a procedure to manually unblock his urethra.

There's nothing you can do yourself or with OTC meds, this condition is too far advanced. You really need to find an emergency vet - blocked bladders in male cats are a classic emergency situation. Your cat has a tumour in his urethra - I think you know it is likely it is this that is causing his problems, not just stones. Eventually this tumour is going to grow to the point where the cat can no loner urinate, and this is when he will die. You need to get him help BEFORE it gets to this point - and as I've said, vets can't just take your cat off you and put him to sleep, they need your permission so it's your decision.

You say you love this cat and I don't doubt it - but if so, how can you watch him being in pain like this? Isn't it killing you? If you were ever to keep an animal alive just because YOU can't bear to be without him, that is not considering the welfare of the animal. You need to do what's best for him, not for you.

You MUST go to the vets again. Bladder stones alonecan be fatal in male cats and it's an awful way to go. No way would you let it happen to an animal you loved.

My cat Baby had a similar problem. He had scar tissue in his urethra and he ended up having two surgeries. I raised him and I just couldn't put him down either. You should go to your vet and they should be able to determine what he has. He might have crystals and/or stones. If he does, there's Hill's Prescription diet cat food that they sell at vet clinics that they can prescribe him. It's a little expensive, but it would be worth every penny if it helps him. There are two different types that could possible work with him, but it depends on what type of crystals or stones he has. They are Prescription Diet s/d or x/d and both require a prescription from your vet.

After my cat had his surgeries I had him on Prescription Diet s/d for about a year, but now he's on just regular Science Diet cat food and he's been doing fine. You should check out www.hillspet.com for more information on the different types of cat food.

A visit to the vet wouldn't hurt, but mostly he needs a change in diet. Some cat foods, especially canned foods contain a high degree of ash. This as well as other salts can contribute to crystals in the urine. A diet free of these salts can dramatically reduce the occurrance of this problem. Another aggravating factor can be having a male cat neutered too early. But I digress, and there isn't much you can do about that now.

Maybe this article will help.

I personally think you should take your cat to a State Unvi. Only because they are ALWAY learning and sometimes the best doctors are the ones who teach us what we know. Just maybe they will be able to help you with your cat. I know how to feel about putting him down I have a boy cat and HE IS my life as well... Very silly little boy but he has a lot of growths and vet said he wouldnt survive here he is 3 years later and 13 lbs! So I would get a 2nd opinion from another vet or go to the state unvi. GOOD LUCK!!

This is EXTREMELy serious and can kill your cat.

Since your diagnosis of his condition may be wrong, and could kill him, please Take him to the VET IMMEDIATELY please.

The vet should have put him on a special diet to reduce the formation of those stones, years ago. The vet can also operate and make the urethra opening larger so your kitty can pass his stones instead of getting blocked up.

Please take him to the vet at once-- he is in terrible pain and is suffering horribly.

I'd take it to the vet. I have had cat's have this in fact have a female currently with UTI. I had male persian with stines. My husband took him to the vet she laid him on his back on the table and pulled the skin back on his penis while my husband rubbed his lwer belly where his bladder s. It peed all over my vet but it unclogged him. And don't be surprised if you see blood. It will need antiniotics so get im to the vet.

I can't tell you what to give him for the stones. I can tell you to stop feeding dry foods. 95% of the mositure is zapped out during the processing and that may be part if yor cat's problems.
