Ursa is in Latin.
Medved is in Russian.
The origin:
Med=Honey
Ved=knowledge
So medved is someone very knowledgeable in Honey...:)

It's медведь (transliterated as medved' and pronounced – very roughly – as "midvyet"). I don't know why Ronald M said ursa, and I don't know why Erik van Thienen wrote Медвежьи. Both are somewhat misleading.

Why do you ask?
